Good job refs!

What a joke. biggest game of the year and the refs were lousy.

Review everything except the one play that would have made the biggest difference. :rotfl: I knew they would win by less than seven as soon as that happened.

Did I hear right? They were from Texas' conference?

refs were from the Big 10.

you are right though, they were quick to review anything that would give Texas a benefit but slow to review or not review plays that woudl have benfitted USC. On that one drive in the 4th quarter I believe, that was a completion and then a fumble by the Texas receiver.

That said, USC handed the game to Texas. Bush's attempted lateral. What was he thinking?

Leinhert <sp> stunk it up in the 2nd quarter and threw that interception when they were driving for a score.

Then, Carrol goes for it on 4th down late in the game. He should have punted given the time left.

For a defensive coordinator, Carrol had no answer for Young. I thought he would have had a better game plan given the amount of time he had to prepare.

I stayed up late but no hang over! Great game!

Go Big 12!

That's good. I must have heard it wrong.

Agree on all points. All things considered Texas won the game because USC didn't come up with a way to stop Young. He made them look silly.

I think they did that with their over-confidence. Even Leinhart's comment after the game that USC was "the better team" showed their cockiness (and poor sportmanship IMHO)

Reviews not withstanding it was still a heckuva game! :cool1: :rockband:

Oh please, it's true. Texas would be lucky to be in a bowl without Young.

Amen to that! I had to rewind the dish because I thought I misheard what Leinhart said.

Texas outplayed USC when it counted. The refs blew some major calls, but that's part of playing the game. You win some and you lose some.

Kudos to Texas and especially to Vince Young for an outstanding ballgame!

The game was amazing. I stayed up and was excited about coming into the office to discuss but my sports talk pal (we are going to have a show one day :rolleyes1 ) is not in...the other guy I talk with is busy.

I have taken to accosting strangers in the elevator to ask their opinions.

There was only one call that would have made a difference..and that happens all the time, it was USC job to overcome it and they didn't.

Just a case of USC losing the game more than Texas winning the game. USC mismanaged the game after going up by 12. I thought USC went complacent after that. They should have attacked Young more. And can someone please cover #16. I think he just caught another pass.

Oh, and where was the vaunted Texas defense? All that speed led to all those cramps.

USC is the better team. Their offense isnt just a one man show.

I will give Young credit though, USC had NO answer for him.

Keith Jackson needs to hang up his headset and leave the announcers' booth permanently. He's clearly lost the ability to be impartial. You might as well have given him a USC pom pom to shake; Jackson wanted them to win SO badly.

I'm a Nebraska born gal who's lived in Colorado for almost 21 years. I love the Huskers and like the Buffs. I am NOT a Texas fan, but I cheered for them to win in part because (to me) of how poorly Keith Jackson conducted himself. Plus, you can tell that he's lost some of his mental sharpness - he made a lot of mistakes in his calls and he had to be corrected numerous times. I always liked Jackson, but he's clearly stayed too long and is getting annoying now.

Go pro Vince! We don't want to have to face you in the Big 12 anymore!!

Congrats to the Longhorns on their National Championship.

Wrong! They have a review system in place in college football now. There is no way that that Vince Young play should have not been reviewed and the touchdown taken away.

I had to work till 10:30, so I TiVo'd it and stayed up till 2am watching the game! I just woke up! :rolleyes1

I thought it was such an exciting game! It sure had me on the edge of my seat, especially the 4th quarter.

I too had to rewind and listen to this again. Very poor sportsmanship.

What about the defensive interception by Texas that they didn't review??

You can't say that it was one sided...Who knows what Texas could have done if they had gotten the ball there........ another drive to the endzone!

HOOK EM HORNS!!

My blood runs orange!!

Congrats Horn Fans - although I am still trying to figure out why Leinart thought with 8 seconds to go, it would be a good idea to scramble for 7 :confused3

I dont agree. There was a major blown call in the 4th quarter when the Texas receiver caught the ball and then fumbled and USC recovered it. The officials all kinda stared at each other for a moment with no call and then a ref comes running from the sidelines and signals an incomplete pass. That would have given USC the ball and eaten more time and possibly led to another USC score.

Also, when has it become OK to lead with your helmet when you tackle in college football? In the 1st quarter when USC #37 caught that long pass that hit he took was helmet to helmet.

I am a Longhorn and I was yelling for him to throw it, run out of bounds, something!! that was very stupid on his part.

Which one would that be? They reviewed the one in the endzone and gave it to them (good call).

ABC replayed every big play in the game. Young was down and the possible interecption was iffy, and USC didn't get it. Everything else was clearly right.

Then why wasn't it utilized? They seemed to be able to review it on a multitude of other plays. I agree that Young's knee was down, and it shouldn't have been a TD. HOWEVER, as another poster stated, it was up to USC to overcome the call. They didn't do it. That's part of the game...like it or not.
