Hook’s Barbery-the bar on the Wish

Just finished up a cruise on the Wish, and one of my favorite memories will be the bar at Hooks Barbary, The bartender was absolutely awesome and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the drink we each chose. The other gentleman that was in the bar had questions about smoking drinks at home, as he was having difficulties. The bartender did some simple experiments, smoking water, that were beyond interesting, to help explain some things to the other person. Totally enjoyed this, probably one of my favorite experiences that did not involve my grandsons on the ship!

My husband maintains that the absolute best entertainment on the Treasure is talking to the bartenders. He was at Hook's, Periscope Pub, or the Haunted Mansion Parlor every night after the rest of us were in bed. (Mostly Periscope.)

Bonus about bars on the Treasure [and I assume other DCL ships] as opposed to bars anywhere else--it's totally normal to hang out for hours without buying/consuming tons of alcohol.

Was it Marcelo? We had him in Sept and it was an awesome experience. Felt like a mini tasting session without the cover charge. Went in on pirate night and had the rum old fashioned he makes with Zacapa 23.

Question about Hooks Barbery - how do you get in for a drink? It was never shown on the navigator app under lounges as having any open hours. I know they do tastings in there, but is it possible to just go in for an old fashioned?

Argh! As a husband who stays at the bars after the whole family goes to bed (one of my twin sons can hang with Pop) it is refreshing to know I am not alone. The bartenders at the Gurgling suitcase, Territory lounge, Mizner's (RIP) and others at WDW are where I have had some of my favorite meetings and discussions. Have a Wish trip scheduled next summer and was glad to find this. Will look for that strange B man with a muche!

It's not quite a speakeasy, but you do need to ask the barbers. Marcelo was late opening the night we went because he did it mid shift and his replacement at the other bar he was working didn't show on time. So it's a bit of a gamble. Very worth it though.

Definitely ask the barbers the hours! But perhaps a guideline is 5-8 pm. We got there one night at 8:15, and Marcelo was preparing for a tasting, and he suggested 5-8.

And, yes, you can get an old-fashioned! In my opinion, this was my one favorite old-fashioned ever!
