Just wondering if anyone has been to either of these, and what you thought? Our kids will be 6, 5 and 2.

I've never done Hoop De Doo, but know lots of people that have and loved it! My DH & I just took our DS (2) for his 1st trip last month & did Mickey's BY BBQ. He loved it! They have Mickey, Minnie, Goofy & Chip n Dale come out & dance on the dance floor. But the best part is that the kids can go and dance with them! My son loved it, as he loves to shake his groove thang! LOL.

I've done Hoop Dee Doo twice and love it! There are no characters though so if your kids are really into the characters, the BBQ might be better for that. The HDD has loads of corny jokes and I love the atmosphere.

When we go back, my kids will be 8,6 and 4 and we'll be doing the HDD. I think they'll really enjoy it, and I know I'll enjoy the all you can drink wine and sangria!

We just did the HDD and it was great.

5ofus is right it is full of corney jokes and music but is great fun. We went with 4 adults and 4 kids and everyone loved it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was really hoping you would say they were not worth bothering with :rotfl2::rotfl2:. Had a look on YouTube. DH does not do corny, so looks like the BBQ may be the way to go! Or maybe he could suffer corny for one night and we could do both??

We did HDD with a 6 year old in Dec 10. She loved it, and loved that she had free go at all of the fried chicken she wanted.

The Cardonnay (in my best Kath voice) was kind of fun. They call out all of the birthdays, anniversaries etc also picking out some people for what state they were from with a little song.

We used the dining plan and were seated at the back on the main floor - tier 2 was the pricing.

If you want to be a part of the action, then maybe pay for tier 1.

Thanks for your review teskak. I think we have decided on HDDR. The BBQ does look like fun, but reviews on HDDR are more positive. Not sure if we will use our dining plan credits or pay OOP. Something else to research!

Another question, how hard is it to get to there? We will have a car but it seems like most people go by boat.

Hi Jade,

We took the boat from MK, it was a long journey, but very pleasant. We loved the show. The food was plain but plentiful, they did offer mac'n'cheese if the kids are picky.

I know that this is an older post but thought I would add my comments about MBYBQ. We did this on our last trip and had a great time. I had read a lot of negative reviews about it but thought we would give it a try and make up our own mind. Glad we did. The dance floor does get pretty crowded and my kids did really dance around near the characters rather than with them. But they were happy with that. We had known that there was no meet and great with them during the night so we were happy with this. We did arrive early, which I would recommend to get a good seat. We probably lined up about 1 1/2 hours before hand and were second in line. But the time they opened it up, there was quite a line behind us. They take you for a character photo as you are walking in. Ours was with Goofy. Not sure if it is always him. By the time we walked down to him, there were a few people that had pushed in front of us. After the photo, you wait at the front of the restaurant. We ended up about 4-5 families back in the line, but the cast members came up to us and asked if my dd's (5 and 7) could open the restaurant. They took us just inside the rope entrance and gave one a triange and the other the thing to hit the triangle with and the girls declared the restaurant open. They then took us in by ourselves to a front table before letting anyone else in and the girls got a certificate. I have to say, having this front table really helped. I dont think I would want to be near the back as you would have to leave your seats to watch the show and your kids while they are dancing.
