Hi All,

I will be living like a princess for a day on the 28th of August when I walk down the aisle and marry my future DH!

2 days later we will be flying out on our 2 week honeymoon to Disney World/Universal.

We are staying off sight (kissimee) & we have park hoppers.

My better half booked our trip to disney as a surprise for me as he knows how much i love it, however, he has never been and is reluctant to go. He is part of the sceptical "pay all that money to wait in queues" & "how can it be much different to a local theme park?" group of people.

I really want to make this trip amazing for him.

Do you have any honeymooner hints and tips for me? :)

Just had my honeymoon at WDW as well. My Number 1 piece of advice would be that sometimes just sitting on a bench and taking in the surrounding areas is more rewarding that rushing from queue to queue. :)

#1 - Don't overdo it .. It's your honeymoon and you will be there for two weeks .. take advantage of the Fast Pass system and sleep in some days. Don't stay out late every night. In other words . .make sure there is time and energy to be "together" on your honeymoon.
#2 - Plan on several non-park days to .. relax by your pool or go to Downtown Disney to explore it and some of the resorts, etc.
#3 - Enjoy the Magic .. do more than just rides ... take time to stop and see a street show or parade .. take time to see characters and have fun with it.
#4 - Be silly .. be in love ... SKIP down Main Street .. literally.
#5 - Take lots of photos.

Some specific tips:
Take the boat ride to hop between Epcot and DHS .. it is a fun trip. Do it at night for some extra fun.
See ALL the nights shows.
If your budget can afford it .. do some unique things (that cost extra money) at WDW - go to the Spirit of Aloha show ... go on a tour .. rent a boat .. take surf lessons at Typhoon Lagoon ...

We had on the bride and groom hats and these cute Mr/Mrs kissing Mickey/Minnie shirts I got from etsy. We strolled down Main Street and one of the photographer CMs took a series of awesome shots of us in front of the castle with our own camera. She had us kiss and the whole nine yards. We also got a lot of attention from characters because they LOVED our shirts. I agree with other posters that it's about relaxing and enjoying each other. Book FPs for certain rides but definitely take time to enjoy the moment! HDDR was a lot of fun too- with great food, a silly show, and great interactions with the crowd. They take time to recognize celebrations. We also did Pirates and Pals to enjoy Wishes on a more laid back pace.

Get the just married buttons. They can give them to you at your hotel or at guest relations. We had a lot of interactions because of those, with CMs, characters and other guests. Even got glasses of champagne at Artist's Point from some other diners that were glad to help us celebrate!

Honeymooned there in 2003, and hubby is now a fan.
Wear the bride and groom hats.
Book ADRs and let them know it is your honeymoon.
Wear the bride and groom hats.
When you book your hotel, let them know it is your honeymoon.
Stop, take your time, and walk through the various gardens around WDW and just stop and smell the roses...
Use the photo pass photographers everywhere.
Wear the bride and groom hats.
Try to get reservations at cinderellas royal table. Trust me, it is an experience you won't forget. I totally loved it! Make sure when you check in that it is noted it is your honeymoon.
Oh, and did I mention...lol...wear the hats?

If you are wondering why I keep mentioning the hats...back in 2003 my lovely hubby wore the groom Mickey ears and I wore the Minnie ears....and we received lots of congratulations from CMs and guests. Soooooo many well wishes, really made the trip sooooo magical. You might get lucky and have a few magical surprises.

We did. We got our own boat on every boat ride in WDW. We got special desserts. We got champagne glasses during one meal. This was over 10 years ago. Expect nothing, obviously, just wear the hats, and buttons too.

Now the biggest surprise and experience of the trip was when we went to Hollywood Studios and we were asked to be grand marshals in the stars and cars parade. If you look in my signature you will see a link to one of the photos from that once in a lifetime experience. I will never ever forget our honeymoon.

I never had so many people wish us well, or feel such amazingly good vibes...everything else was just icing on the (wedding) cake.

Have lots of fun..... We celebrated our Honeymoon at Disney last September.

We wore the buttons and I had the Minnie Bride ears. We got lots of attention from them, it was fun.
Note it's your honeymoon on any reservation, we got some extras from that one too.
Look into the memory maker if it isn't on your package. We had this as part of our package, stopped and took photos with every photographer we saw. From it there are now a lot of cute photos of our trip.

Just really enjoy yourselves!!! There's so much just to watch and do at the parks, you don't have to be on a ride constantly.

Pick up little souvenirs as reminders of your trip. We have little things here and there, we also stopped at the Christmas Shop and got a special ornament for our Christmas Tree.

During the trip we also picked different spots to watch fireworks at every night. It was cool to end with fireworks or illuminations every night. We would take night time strolls through world showcase after most the crowd cleared from illuminations. That was fun too, walk through world showcase with almost no one around.

Disney no longer gives out the 'Just Married' buttons with Cinderella and Price Charming on them. Now the buttons say 'Happily Ever After' and have the carriage on them. I spent a little money to get the discontinued buttons to wear on our Disneymoon and if you google them you should be able to find them. I like those buttons a lot more than the ones they have now, but that's just me.

Another vote for the Mickey/Groom and Minnie/Bride ears hats. Between those and the buttons we got so many congratulations and special things. I booked CRT one night during our honeymoon.

DH got some gifts sent to the room during the honeymoon from the Floral and Gifts Department. Still use those wine glasses and that specific package comes with the Bride/Groom ears.

Like everyone else has said, have fun!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We were married at WDW and honeymooned there for a few days after.

The pps already gave you great ideas - the biggest thing is don't rush yourself! Enjoy your time! Especially after Labor Day the crowds will literally vanish as kids go back to school, so don't worry about that. With two weeks you have more than enough time to see it all and repeat your favorites.

Definitely book some nice meals - our favorites were Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club and Ohana at the Poly (louder and not as romantic, but good food!)/ Browse the restaurant boards here and/or the menus at Allears.net to give yourself some ideas.

I also recommend enjoying the resorts! Animal Kingdom Lodge has a fantastic atmosphere and some excellent dining, just visiting to eat & animal watch is worth a trip. Walk the Boardwalk at night at maybe visit Jellyrolls, or take the boat over to Fort Wilderness for Hoop De Doo

Some of my favorite moments from our honeymoon have nothing to do with the parks - enjoying a pre dinner drink at the Poly while people watching, running around a virtually empty Future World 30 minutes before Epcot's closing (when everyone is in World Showcase waiting for the fireworks!), eating and drinking our way around the World Showcase, staking out a shady spot to watch the MK parade with some Dole Whips and churros.

I hope you have the most wonderful trip!

Try to get ADR for Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner and watch and listen to fireworks from your table. DW and I did this for our 25th anniversary and it was very romantic , especially according to her !!!!! We also got champagne glasses !!

We went there for our honeymoon in 1989. We went thinking "what the heck, why not?" That's where our addiction started. Definitely wear the hats and buttons. You never know what may happen. We drank our way around World Showcase. We went to Hoop-de-Doo revue. Got upgraded to front table. Had a blast.

Spend time just people watching, enjoy the atmosphere, and best of luck to you both.

Careful. The honeymoon trip begets the anniversary trip. Set the bar too high with 'special' extras and you have to top it every year.

And I know;)

LOL....we have done the same trip 3X now and the last time we upped it to include DCL... next anniversary trip will be 2018, for our 15th....we are thinking about DCL concierge. We already do the platinum plan at WDW. Rofl for our 5th we were upgraded to magic kingdom view CL at Poly....so for our 10th we decided instead of CL, extend the trip and do DCL.

You are all warned! :)

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Wishing you many happy years of marriage! We honeymooned there in 1996 and I have awesome memories. Definitely wear the hats and the buttons. And get lots of pictures taken at every possible opportunity. Eat and drink your way around World Showcase. Most of all- relax. Sleep in late if you want to, hang out at the pool, go to the spa, play mini-golf. Get FP for rides you have to do and don't sweat the other stuff. In 2 weeks you will hopefully find time to get to everything.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thanks everyone!

definitely getting hats and badges :) Will take it slow and enjoy every moment im sure! xx

Honestly, DH and I both love Disney so going there for our honeymoon wasn't even a question back in 2002.

As far as making it special...it's your HONEYMOON!!! That in itself is special and DH and I were just sooooo happy to be finally married and on our first vacation as husband and wife, nothing else mattered. We stayed at All Star Sports because that's all we could afford at the time and it was spectacular! :)
