Honeymoon stay suggestions for newbies

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at The Beach Club. It was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and accomodating. We also want to stay at Boardwalk sometime.

DH and I honeymooned at GF - it is a gorgeous resort . . . BUT . . . I must say I found myself wishing we were at the BWI, YC or BC because of the proximity to Epcot and MGM. If you enjoy going to those parks and like a little nightlife, I think you'll be better off with BWI, YC or BC. That said, I love the theming at the Polynesian - it is very romantic so what I would recommend is the following: Stay at BWI with a Boardwalk view (very pretty and romantic) and then resort hop at will. Jump on the monorail at dusk and head over the the MK resorts (Poly, CR, and GF). Grab a drink at the bar of one (or all) of these resorts and don't miss the electric light parade on the 7 Seas Lagoon (a great spot to catch it is the beach at the Poly). Incidentally, not sure if this is a biggie for you but the Poly does not have a hot tub. The others do.

I don't mean to throw a wrench into the works, but have you considered renting points from a DVC member at one of the Epcot resorts (BC or BW)?
You can rent a 1 bedroom with a full kitchen, king size bed and jacuzzi. I am not sure how the cost compares with Poly, but it may surprise you when you consider that with renting points there is no tax.

DH and I were debating between GF and Yacht Club for our honeymoon in 2000. We decided on the Yacht Club and loved it! It was a beautiful resort, great pool, and we walked to Epcot or the Boardwalk almost every night for dinner or dessert. We also were able to walk to MGM. We'll be staying at Beach Club w/kids this year to try something new, but wanted to stay in that area.

We were married and disneymooned at the Boardwalk Inn. Very romantic and the garden suites are incredible. Private, large with the best jacuzzi tub and shower you will find at Disney outside of a presidential suite.

DH and I are in our 40's with 4 kids therefore what we consider "romantic" at this point may not be the same as what you would but here goes.

BW can be very quiet in the morning and early day, but at night is very busy and exciting. Also easy romantic walk to Epcot World Showcase. Strolling back to hotel after watching illuminations would be wonderful.

I think the GF has the romantic atmosphere (though I have never actually stayed here). but closest prox. to Magic Kingdom.

We stayed at POR last summer (it was an older room) we did not find it romantic - in contrast we found it very family oriented atmosphere.
This is only 1 couples opinion though. Most others would probably disagree.
That said I would probably choose CRB for the moderate.

We stayed at the beach club for our honeymoon....it was fabulous! We loved the room, the pool, and the close walk to epcot. We went in off season so every day we would go to a different park....hop back to the hotel for a swim, and then finish the day with dinners in different "countries" and walk around the boardwalk. It was completely wonderful. I totally recommend the epcot resort area!

We stayed at the WL for our honeymoon and are returning in 27 days for our anniversary. We stayed on the 7th floor and enjoyed the pampering for a little less than the rooms at the GF. However we haved stayed at the poly and that is great and romantic too!!! Best wishes

Whelps we booked the honeymoon on Sunday at a local travel agent.
We are staying at the polynedian w/garden view for 8days/7nights. We wont know the room until 2days before the trip
We got the magic plus passes w/dining..which i guess are park hoppers and also allow us into disney quest and other stuff...still not sure on that...and we got the dinning package also. Seemed like a good deal to me. After all was said and done with tickets, rooms, flight, insurance it came to 4k and a few bucks. Not bad IMHO. The travel agent will even reserve each nights meals for us...we bought a book called bitsbaums or somethign 2k5 guide..and hope to pick out our meals and rides..etc from that and this board =).

Im trying to find out next how the dinning works....like which higher up meals/shows cost 2meal passes.

I can tell you that as a travel agent ...the price you get online is the same one we get when we call or do it online. You just will be charged a fee by a travel agent to do it for you. That said.....
The POly is so pretty at night with the tiki torches lit, and the view of the castle from the beach. It is very romantic to lay in a hammock and watch the castle lights change...see fireworks...and just listen to the boats go by. The restaurants there are great as well.
The Grand is a standout for its location, beauty and its restaurants. As far as service not much different than any resort.
The Beach/Boardwalk also has the romantic night scenery. The ability to walk to Epcot is priceless if you like to enjoy it at night and eat dinners in the countries.
The rooms are nice at all of the resorts you mentioned. Yes...you can ride horses at Fort W without staying there...just hop on the bus.

As far as Moderates...our fav is Caribbean Beach. It has a nice layout and a beach feel to it. Although the PO riverside and French Quarter are fine. Nothing fancy...just make sure you get a King Bed...not 2 doubles.

As far as airfare. Book it on your own in order to get the flights you really want. Then take advantage of the free transfers Disney will have when you travel!

I don't understand your comment, "We won't know the room until 2 days before the trip."

You booked a Garden View, until you actually check in and your room is ready, you will not know what room you will get or what building. If your TA told you otherwise that is not correct. Disney does not realease room assignments until you are there in person. Even then if your room that you have been assigned is not ready to occupy they wont give you the location.

Just wanted you to know so you will know what to expect. This is the reason many suggested dealing with a Travel Agent that specializes in Disney, as they do not do things the same way other resorts do.

Keep asking questions here though and you will learn,

Congrats on booking your honeymoon!

As you can see from my signature, we stayed at WL for ours. We came to this conclusions from visiting allearsnet.com countless time to learn more about the resorts.

You mentioned purchasing Burnbaums 2k5 book. Great start. I would also recommend the site listed above. While the book you bought will give you brief descriptions and price ranges for the different dining options on property the site above actually has the menus!

One final tip unrelated to accomidations or dining is... buy and wear the bride and groom ears. This is the one thing that I TOTALLY regret not doing on our honeymoon and that has been haunting me ever since. Wear the ears, get the attention, live it up!

What are these bride and groom ears you speak of? Do they give them to you if they know its your honeymoon? I have only ever een the hats with ears on them...heck i still have mine from when i was a kid......but it doesnt fit

The bride and groom ears are based on those mickey ears you got as a child. The bride's is like the one you have already but white and it has a veil. They have also come out with bride head band ears which are, of course, a white headband with sparkly ears and a veil. The groom ears is a black top hat with ears. You can buy them in most gift shops on property for aroung $12 or $15 i think. Below is a link so you can see what they look like:
