Honeymoon Rooms, Regular VS Concierge Level any advice??

Hi ladies,

DF and I are trying to figure out of our wedding and honeymoon itinerary this week and we have decided to switch our comp night from YC to the Poly. We are doing 7 nights at the YC then switching to the Poly after the wedding for 5 nights (1 of which is our comp night) when I called to book the comp night the lady said we would have to check in a 2nd time at the Poly, which seems like a lot fo moving about to me.

So my question is, did anyone just stay concierge the whole time? Is it worth it? Pro vs Cons? It just seems like a lot of extra $$ for us to spend when I wonder whether or not it is worth it?

Any help or advice would be appriciated, what did (or are you going to do) and why? Thanks!

The way I look at it, Concierge costs at least $100 extra per night, so unless we're going to replace $100 worth of meals with snacks from the Concierge lounge, it's not really worth it for us. (This is leaving out factors like increased customer service and the potential for a better view.)

If you make your Concierge night your last night, it might minimize the hassle of checking in and out again. And sometimes (but that's a big *sometimes*) if they see you have one Concierge night tacked onto a longer reservation in a Standard room, they will upgrade you to Concierge for the whole stay. But it all depends on availability (and CM whim), so you can't count in it happening.

This is often debated on the Resorts board! Really whether or not it is worth it is a personal choice.

We stayed concierge for our honeymoon for several reasons. One was because it was our wedding/honeymoon we wanted to "splurge". One was because it was our first trip to the world and we wanted the extra "TLC" the concierge staff could provide (tips, ADR help, itinerary help, some other extras we wanted coordinated). And yet another reason was the location of the rooms. We had a fabulous boardwalk view room just above the Boardwalk Bakery. And lastly, we enjoyed the snacks the lounge provided...drinks, pastries, hot appetizers, cordials and amazing little desserts. We have since learned that when we are at Disney we really only eat one big meal a day, the rest of the time we're just kinda "picking"...the concierge lounge was perfect for that!

The IPO Boardwalk staff were fantastic on our wedding day (sharing our cake with us) and just over all extremely attentive during our stay. We absolutely thought it was worth every penny.

Our past trip we stayed at the Poly concierge. OMG that papaya/mango/whatever juice is SOOOOOOO good!! We didn't go to the lounge as much for snacks this time but as always the IPO staff was AMAZING!!! They will help you with anything! I don't feel comfortable revealing all the little extras they have done for me (at both BWI and Poly) but I can tell you that the extra costs were very much worth it to me!

Either way, I figure if you are at Disney, it's all good!!!

Thansk Carrie, We have already booked our CL room at the Poly for our last night so that is good to hear. The cost of the Poly was a big difference when I was quoted it from DFTW (like $250-$300 more per night). I am guessing we would need to eat a lot of snacks to make up the difference in cost each day lol! Is it is big hassel to check in and out so much though??

Thanks for you input, I was wondering if it made it feel a little extra "honeymoon-y" which is why I was considering it so thanks for your answer!
Is that the same juice they serve at the Kona?? If so it may be worth the extra $$ just for that lol! It is amazing!

I've not stayed Concierge at the Poly, but I've heard that is the best concierge...so if you want to splurge, I'd say you'd at least be enjoying it.

I know you're not considering the GF, but for anyone who is, here's my two cents about concierge at the GF...

We stayed in a Garden view for the first few nights we were at GF and then switched to a Honeymoon Concierge for the last few. (as Lurkyloo states, they did try to link our reservation for concierge the whole time, but were unable to due to other bookings). The view from the Honeymoon concierge was better (of course), but other than that, I didn't think it was much different of a room. We did have access to the concierge lounge and we did get the turn down service. The only other difference is the jacuzzi tub.

BUT...the honeymoon concierge at GF are on a different floor from the concierge lounge, so it wasn't convenient to use. And the jacuzzi tub definitely didn't fit two, so I'd recommend a DVC 1 BR over this. On the other hand, my parents stayed at a deluxe concierge room (not honeymoon) at GF, and it was twice the size of a normal room and easily accessed the lounge. So, if you're planning on splurging at GF...I'd go for the deluxe concierge instead of the honeymoon!

Thanks Heidi, that is good to know about the room. I saw the "honeymoon suite" as an option at a few resorts and was wondering about it... The tub is a very nice thing though. That is strange that your folks room was bigger then a honeymoon room though, I would think it would be the other way around

I guess it depends on how much you have to pack Since it's at the end of your stay, you could do the big pack-up the night before you have to switch rooms, and then not really unpack again in your concierge room - theyn you wouldn't have to do so much packing your last night. We moved three times on our honeymoon, and by the end we had it down to a science.

Good point, I think by the end all our stuff will just be juimbled to the point that we don't really care anymore lol! As long as it all gets home I think we will be pretty flexible lol!

I know you've already read my TR about our concierge room at WL, but I'm gonna give ya my input anyway

For us the concierge level was worth it for these two reasons alone!!

1. THE STAFF!!!!!!! This starts before you even arrive and continues until you leave at the end of your trip. The staff booked all of our ADRs for us, "squeezed us into" the CRT (I don't think they actually "squeezed us in" but I do know they kept trying until they got it, which was a lot less hassle for me). They also emailed us the itinerary as soon as the reservations were confirmed (and every single time we changed our mind...and never once got mad when we asked them to change something ). Plus the nightly turn down service and of course, like all Disney staff, went out of their way to help anytime we had a question for them.

2. The concierge lounge...I know you don't really get your "money's worth" out of the food alone, but we loved having it. Almost every morning this where we got our breakfast from and then whenever we went back to the room to take a nap we grabbed a snack from there...and maybe, we might have grabbed extra snacks and cokes for the fridge to have that night when we came back late They also have a select assortment of wines, beers etc.

If you really want to stay CL but are concerned about the packing/repacking idea I would suggest...when you check out of YL pack up a "day bag" of whatever you will need for your comp night/day into a duffel bag or something of that sort. That way after your comp night at the Poly that is the only thing you will have to pack back up instead of a great big suitcase (or if you're like me 2 or 3 of them )

Now, to be fair the price difference wasn't as much as you said it was at the Poly. We paid a difference of about $125 a night. I know this is still a lot of money, but we knew we would probably never do it again and it helped make things "hassle free" as far as ADRs and tours etc go.
