Hello Everyone! My fiancé and I are getting married May 2016 and we are going to honeymoon in Disney World. We are pretty much paying for everything ourselves so we are trying to do our honeymoon classy, elegant and amazing while not spending too much. Our dreams are to stay in stay in GF or Contemporary... I am pretty sure that will remain in the dream stage but if there is a way I would love to know. We also pay on getting the dining plan but again not really sure what is best.

All thoughts and helpful tips are welcomed and needed. Thank you very much

Congratulations! Unless you eat a LOT of food, you will find the Disney Dining Plan is not worth the cost. On our honeymoon, we split a lot of meals, saved a bundle, and still never went hungry. If you're considering purchasing at least one annual pass (which can save on admission, depending on how long your trip is), it will make you eligible for merchandise discounts, hotel discounts and the Tables In Wonderland dining discount card. TIW costs $100 but it saves you 20% on food AND beverages, including booze.

Otherwise, keep an eye on sites like Mousesavers.com for the seasonal hotel discounts Disney offers. It will be a while before May 2016 discounts come out, but you can always book your room-only reservation now and then adjust it if a discount comes out.

Rent points and stay DVC. You can stay at either of your choices, GF or BLT at CR. There is a trade board on Dis. Also, there are vendors that will do everything for you. There is also another popular trade board.(I cannot name names). This will cut the price of your stay in half. The rooms are not as nice but they are not much of a drop off at either of your choices bc they are fairly new. Only downside is that you do not get maid service. However, you can get as many towels, trash bags, toiletries, etc as you want. When it comes down to it, you have to make your own bed.

We rented points for our honeymoon and stayed BWV with a Boardwalk view, it was a great decision. We loved it. the view was great and the location was great for us bc we wanted to spend a lot of time in EPCOT and we like the bars in that area like Jellyrolls and ESPN.

We prefer the dining plan bc it is prepaid. We have never sat down to calculate whether it is worth it but it cannot be argued that it is convenient. It is expensive but you may want to consider the DDDP and dine at several 2 credit restaurants since it is your honeymoon. I would probably never do DDDP again, I would just opt for the traditional DDP, but it was nice to go to a bunch of two credit restaurants one time.

The downside of doing TIW is the automatic 18% gratuity at all table service restaurants, so really you are only getting a 2% discount. Takes a lot longer to have it pay for itself than it may originally appear.

Except that most Americans leave a tip on their meals, so for us it's like getting that 2% discount AND a free tip! You can also have a manager adjust the auto gratuity if you feel 18% is too much.
