Hi everyone,

I'm having a home wedding in September and planned a DCL honeymoon. My plan was to go to WDW for a honeymoon photo session at the Magic Kingdom before the cruise. A friend of mine did hers there back in January of 2007 and the photos were beautiful.

I called Disney Photography today and found out that they only do the photo sessions at EPCOT and the resort hotels now. I'm so majorly bummed. Did anyone else know this? I searched the DIS and didn't see this info anywhere so I wanted to share with others.

MK is my favorite park and I cannot see paying $310 for photos at a resort hotel or EPCOT. *sigh*

We got married last July and we were able to do our honeymoon session at MK. Maybe they've changed something since then though.

Something definately changed and I'm not sure what. She said that they are not able to book sessions at the Magic Kingdom anymore.

it changed, because they did them during park hours, so there were guests in a lot of the pictures.

I think Epcot is beautiful. Getting pictures in the different countries sounds really cool, to me.

That's too bad about MK but the photos I've seen from the Epcot shoots are very nice. I may see if we can book a "second honeymoon" shoot (do they allow that??) when we go for our 10th. Our first honeymoon was to London and Paris so I think it'd be cool to get shots in the England and France pavillions.

We had a photoshoot scheduled for the MK, but when I called to confirm she said they'd still honor it, because we'd already booked it there, but they weren't going to do any more there. As OP said, they can't really get any intimate shots, because there's no way to crop other people out of the picture. One of the big pluses about getting it done at EPCOT is they do it at the World Showcase between 8:00-11:00 am, before it opens. I went ahead and changed mine to EPCOT. You never know how crowded MK is going to be during park hours...and some people are really rude and don't care if you're having professional pictures taken or not.

What about using a PhotoPass photographer for an MK shoot? It's a bit cheaper and you can get all the images on disc. The quality varies, but then I've found that to be the case with Disney Photographic Services
too.

I completely understand if they took MK out of the options for the photo sessions because of the crowd control. But I don't agree with it. I think maybe they should have you sign some kind of waiver agreeing to accept the photos as they are even if there are people in them. I cannot afford a Disney wedding so that session was my next best thing to have prof pics taken with the castle as the backdrop.

They did give me the number to call the PhotoPass services to see if I can set up an appt with one of their photographers. She didn't have any prices so I'm not sure what it will cost but that is my other option.

I just wanted to make other brides/newlyweds aware of the change.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for posting this- we are also doing a ceremony outside of disney, and I just today started looking at doing a honeymoon shoot. I REALLY wanted epcot- and I'm very happy to hear they do it early in the morning without a lot of people. Could you tell me the best way to contact them? I emailed, but there doesn't seem to be a phone number listed online?
I'm sorry about your castle pictures. I do wish disney had another more affordable and simple package (on land- the by sea one is good!)- I hope they start to take that into account with the current economy!

Have you thought about a resort photoshoot (with disney or someone else!) with ones on the beach with the castle in the background? I actually think those pictures tend to be nicer than the MK photoshoots personally. Or the photopass one would also work if you want to go in the park. Best of luck to you figuring it out:) And thanks for sharing:)

I'm going to look into making an appointment with PhotoPass to see what their MK shoot would entail. Once I find that out, I'll be sure to post the info for others as well.

I'm not sure about the resort shoots. I'll have to discuss with DFi.

Here is the number for Disney Photography that I used. 407-827-1577. I'm glad you want the EPCOT shoot because they schedule those in the World Showcase before it opens to the public during times of 7:30am, 8am, 8:30am, 9am, or 9:15am.

What is the 'by sea' package you talk about?

Thank you! :goodvibes

I think the photos at Epcot would be really beautiful too! Some of the gardens and water features and even buildings in the World Showcare make a stunning background for photos.

The Epcot shoot sounds really great, are you not interested in any resort shoots? We had our engagements done at the BC and had a family shoot at the GF and are getting another shoot of just my husband and myself at teh Boardwalk/BC in Oct.

I know MK can be special, but I just thought I would mention it to you. As there are so many beuayiful places all over Disney World.

Hmm I didn't think of the Boardwalk. That might be a good option. Thank you for this! :goodvibes

since we are in the beginings of our wedding planning i cant say if this hasnt changed, but we were told that they do MK shoots, but it was before or after the park closed. Try checking in to that.

Hi- I PM'd you- but I wanted to say thanks for this info! It's really helpful, and to clarify, I meant the DCL (by sea).

Thanks again!!!

So I had DFi call Disney PhotoPass today on the recommendation of Disney Photography. Here's the number in case someone wants to try, 407-560-6068. Anyways, the girl he spoke to was not very pleasant and when he asked about setting up an appointment to do a MK photo shoot she said that they don't do that. When he said he got the number from Disney Photography she raised her voice a little louder this time and said that they do NOT do that. That was the end of the call. Ohs well. :confused3

Ugh - what a drag! :sad2:

They may not officially do PhotoPass portrait session in the parks, but I guarantee you that if you walked up to a PhotoPass photog at the MK and asked him/her to take shots of you in various places around the castle and nearby, he/she would be happy to do it.

I have heard of several people who did this, and I know in my experience, many PhotoPass photographers suggest more than one photo/pose and have even lead us other places to get shots they thought we might like.

:thumbsup2

Thank you Carrie. I think I might just try this out! I don't feel like going around in circles calling Disney about this so this sounds great. I appreciate your feedback!:thumbsup2
