Hi folks
Just about to start plans on our WDW Disneymoon! We will have two weeks hopefully to spend at WDW and surrounding parks. My idea was to do some of the tours/segway bits and pieces - I'm wondering what other ideas people can recommend.

I was also going to stay at a deluxe for the first few nights and then head to my beloved POP - can anyone provide information on any specific honeymoon suites at the deluxes?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Congratulations, Maleficent_man, on your upcoming honeymoon! Here are a few suggestions that come directly from Disney:

Disney Honeymoon Packages Are a Fairy Tale Come True

For Those Who Say "I Do," Disney Can Offer the World

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Who hasn't dreamed of seeing the world on their honeymoon? Having a quiet dinner at a Parisian bistro, a moonlit walk on a secluded white sand beach or sightseeing at an enchanted castle? Only Walt Disney World Resort can offer this, and more, on the same trip.

Disney's Fairy Tale Honeymoon packages let couples choose the getaway of their dreams. Newlyweds can explore all four theme parks, sail away on board Disney Cruise Line or relax in an oceanfront room at Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

The adventure begins prior to arrival. Any special arrangement, from a fun excursion to dinner reservations, can be made in advance.

During the honeymoon itself, guests will receive a number of romantic amenities to make their honeymoon a memorable one. Just a few of the many experiences and package options awaiting the happy couple:

  • Accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
  • Magic Your Way Premium ticket, which includes admission to Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney water parks, Downtown Disney Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest indoor interactive theme park and Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
  • Admission to Cirque du Soleil La Nouba.
  • Unlimited enjoyment of selected recreation including mini-golf, guided fishing excursions, water sports, tennis and more.
  • Unlimited admission to various theme park tours.

The door to true romantic opportunity also is found in the 40-square-mile entertainment kingdom that is Walt Disney World Resort. Some of the most enjoyable activities for guests include:

  • A magical walk through the park -- Whether it's walking through the past along Main Street, U.S.A. or watching as the sun fades over Cinderella Castle, Magic Kingdom endures as a delightfully romantic experience. Not to be outdone, Epcot allows visitors to see the world in the exploration of 11 nations in World Showcase. Guests can take in the glamour of show business at Disney-MGM Studios or take a plunge down The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. For adventurers, Disney's Animal Kingdom boasts Expedition Everest, a high-speed train ride to Mount Everest where the legend of the yeti comes to life.
  • Being a good sport -- Want to play the same course as Tiger Woods? Disney offers five championship golf courses. Spa treatments, horseback riding, tennis or a day at one of Disney's two water parks are just what the doctor ordered for an active, yet relaxing, honeymoon.
  • The night comes alive -- At Downtown Disney, newlyweds can dance the night away at clubs or take in a movie at the AMC 24 Theatres. Interactive DisneyQuest presents high-tech adventure, and the Cirque du Soleil production, La Nouba, is a wonder of theatrics, acrobatics, live music and breathtaking stunts.
  • Delicious relaxation -- No evening would be complete without a stellar meal. California Grill atop Disney's Contemporary Resort offers a majestic view overlooking Magic Kingdom, as well as the scrumptious cuisine and a list of award-winning California wines. Perhaps a fresh catch at Flying Fish Café at Disney's BoardWalk? The sheer variety and diversity of the Walt Disney World restaurants allow for many memorable meals.
  • Launching a marriage -- By taking a cruise with Disney Cruise Line, guests can choose between a 3- or 4-night trip to Nassau and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, or take a 7-night Caribbean cruise through the islands of St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. John and Castaway Cay. Aboard the ship, guests enjoy many activities. From dinner at Animator's Palate, where the restaurant transforms from black and white to full color during your meal, to three Broadway-style stage shows, the Disney magic truly expands to the sea.
  • Finishing touch -- Just a short two-hour drive from Walt Disney World Resort is Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Guests can search for seashells or toast their new marriage on the balcony of the oceanfront lounge.

With Disney's Fairy Tale Honeymoon packages, Disney specialists take care of everything so lovebirds can focus on each other.

With the new Disney Honeymoon Registry, couples also may complete a gift registry for elements to comprise an all-inclusive honeymoon to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club. The customized registry is divided into specific categories such as “active adventure,” “exotic,” “luxury” and “distinctly Disney” to compliment couples’ personal interests. Couples can even personalize their online registry page with messages and pictures.

Maleficent_man, I see that you've been a member of the Dis since 2002, so I probably don't have to tell you that you don't have to book an official Honeymoon Package in order to partake of some of the items on Disney's list. You can simply pay for whatever pieces appeal to you -- that is, pay as you go.

For example, if you like the idea of golfing, simply book a tee-time on the course of your choice. I have golfed on a few of Disney's courses, but I must admit that I had way more fun attending some of their private golf lessons. Disney's instructors were excellent -- and also a lot of fun. It was definitely time well spent.

On another one of my family's vacations, one of our guests wanted to go horseback riding. And so she did.

We've also scheduled water-skiing into our vacation, but due to inclement weather, that was canceled on us. Not to be deterred, as soon as the weather cleared up, we rented a couple of mini-speed boats (currently called Sea Raycers) and cruised all over Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

Since WDW is truly a resort area, just about anything that you think of can be arranged. Have fun planning your honeymoon!

I've been to WDW more times than I have fingers. You'd think there's very little I haven't done but it's not true. I'm the oldest child in my family so all my Disney trips have followed almost the same family-friendly, semi-budget conscious routine every time we go.

For our Disneymoon, we're going to do a lot of things I've never done before. Originally we were planning a land and sea package. We both like cruises and have never been on a Disney cruise. But the package requires that you do the land portion first...which would clash with our NJ wedding. So the 4-day sea and the 3-day land portions are being booked seperately...we'd rather end with the MK anyway.

In the park we're planning to go to Pleasure Island (the comedy club in particular), see La Nouba, eat in Cinderella's Castle for dinner, spend more time at the World Showcase Pavillions that don't contain rides...sample the booze.

The last time we went to WDW together was almost 7 years ago on a high school band trip. I have a couple of nice group shots in MK and Epcot where we somehow ended up posing with each other (and we weren't even interested in dating then). It'd be really sweet to revisit those locations for updated photos wearing wedding ears. :)

I agree with the "pay as you go" suggestion. We're just going to pay our PI admission seperately. Adding a "Water Park and More" option when we'd only use it for PI on one night would be paying through the nose for something we really don't need. As tempting as honeymoon packages are...especially with those La Nouba tickets...we don't play golf, we're not spa people, we don't need THAT much food.

Thanks for the replies folks...I have been many times and on several occasions have been an AP holder - just looking to make the very most of the trip possible - the planning is all fun as well!

Thanks for the replies folks...

You're welcome, Maleficent_man. Do you have anything in particular in mind? I've experienced a lot of really fun & unique things in WDW and could share my experiences with you -- and if I have photos, I could share them, too. I know there are many others here on the Dis who could do the same thing. Let us know what you're thinking of doing (that is, areas that appeal to you) and we'll try our best to help you come up with just the right touches for your honeymoon.

It sounds like you already know a lot about the resorts etc. But I'll give the tips I have :) We went on our honeymoon for two weeks and did one week at the Port Orleans Riverside and then switched to our second week at Coronado Springs. Both were great and we loved the idea of getting to experience two different hotels, pools etc. They were very romantic and the grounds were beautiful. And make sure you let them know it is your honeymoon, we got bumped up to better rooms both times and we had a surprise waiting in our room! And I suggest if you aren't into the bride and groom hats to make t-shirts or something...we got a lot of free desserts and "CONGRATS!" when we wore the shirts I made us. And make sure you go to guest services at any of the parks and get your free "just married" pins. That will help with freebies. My husband was a little shy about it all at first but after one free chocolate dessert he was all in!

If you are leaving Disney property at all, I highly suggest Discovery Cove. We did the dolphin experience there and LOVED it. And we were able to just take a taxi from our Disney hotel and it was only about 15 minutes away and was a perfect honeymoon treat!

When did you let them know? Ahead of time or when you checked in?

Thanks again!

I guess I'm starting with a blank canvas - I've been lucky enough to go a few times in recent years but my partner hasn't been since she was about 6! I'm thinking California Grill would be nice but I'm not sure it would be her cup of tea. I think I'm looking for those one in a lifetime kinda things......I'm undecided as to which resort to stay at to begin with...I'm thinking AKL and then over to POP (getting married costs a penny or two!!)

I'm looking forward to all the planning though!

Hi Maleficent_Man!

I think that if you want experiences which you will only get in Disney then it is worth trying to do some of the behind-the-scenes tours. I've heard that the Segway tour is fantastic and it's really a two for the price of one type tour because not only do you get to try out the segways themselves but you also go around the park before it's open to everyone else!

Similarly to this, if you get breakfast reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table you can walk through the park before opening hours and get some one of a kind photos of you both by the castle.

Disney are also very good with providing surprises in your room such as chocolate covered strawberries and champagne (although all for a price!) and also, if you leave a note for housekeeping telling them it's your honeymoon and you'd like to surprise your wife, most will oblige by making you some very cute towel animals!

Other than that, I agree with the others. If you wear the badges/honeymoon hats/tops then most CM's will give you free stuff or a ride vehicle all to yourselves - something which is very rare outside of WDW!!

Hope that helps!

When did you let them know? Ahead of time or when you checked in?

We let them know when we called to make our reservations over the phone for the room. We also made requests for specific buildings at our hotels (they can't guarantee anything, but if it's your honeymoon they'll try and it worked for us). Freebies also depend on how many other brides/grooms are there, if you go in June you will be one of a million other couples there, but if you are there in January...you'll probably get a lot! We had fun meeting so many other couples that now share our anniversary!

We also arrived at the hotel in our "Just married" T-shirts that I made us. It helped us get some special treatment at the airport too, and everyone was extra friendly during check in :) Take advantage of this chance, you only get to be on your honeymoon once!

I even had our Disney "Just Married" pin on our backpack when we went to Discovery Cove and they gave us a pass for a free drink or dessert during our visit.

Have fun!
