Need suggestions on where to stay for a week long honeymoon. Got engaged at Disney and we love to vacation there and typically stay at a value resort (Pop Century) because we spend so much time at the parks. We were thinking since it is our honeymoon that maybe we would spend 4 nights at Pop and maybe 2 or 3 nights at a higher end resort. Has anyone split their time this way? Looking for suggestions/ideas to make this trip a little extra special.

We just did a split stay between All Star Music and Art of Animation with a big family. Disney makes the process very easy. The check out and check in process is hassle free and Disney will take your luggage to the new resort. Just take your bags to bell services and tell them the resort you're going to and you'll pick it up at the new hotel.

Yes! We did 4 nights at Pop and then 3 at AKL. So worth the upgrade! Definitely do Pop first because once you go deluxe, you probably won’t want to downgrade. Also we found we did our heavy park days during our Pop stay and could relax more at AKL. We got engaged at Disney World too! Congrats!

Almost the same thing for us! Sub "babymoon" for honeymoon and POR instead of POP. Definitely do the luxury resort second and take full advantage of all the amenities.

If you are able to treat yourself to club level it definitely is worth it when you're celebrating something extra special. Congrats!

We stayed at Coronado for a large portion of our honeymoon and loved that resort - a very grownup feel but much cheaper than the Deluxe resorts. We had a King room which was so nice. If you can get an upper floor corner room it's a huge bonus but not necessary to the experience.

I do split stays just about every trip. I tend to do a day or two at a value or moderate, depending on the cost then move for the rest of the trip to an Epcot resort. Lately that has been Swan/Dolphin. If you've stayed at Pop you know what to expect at a value and it is your honeymoon so I say, if you can afford it, splurge and do that split stay.

You may want to entertain a stay at the Gran Destino Tower the entire week. You will get a deluxe resort feel the entire week for probably less than you would spend on a split stay. Plus no hassle of packing back up and moving.
We've stayed in just about all the deluxe resorts and GDT is our new go to, for the price it just can't be beat. Beautiful restaurant, lounges and views. Plus, it's brand new.
If you do want to do a split stay, we find that AKL is the most unique of all the resorts and has the most positives attributes and the rooms have been remodeled recently.
Congrats and have fun!

I don't know anything about the Gran Destino Tower. Is that a Disney hotel?

Yes, it's a new addition to Coronado Springs Resort. It's beautiful. We stayed at AKL in May in a newly refurbished room and then at GDT in Sept. The rooms were accommodated quite similarly.
Dis review of GDT:

I will caution that if you allow Disney to transfer your bags to your new resort, you may be without them for quite a while. It's not as efficient as the DME luggage delivery process. I have heard people going as long as 12+ hours waiting for their bags to make it to the new resort. What a lot of people opt to do instead is to take Uber/Lyft, with their luggage, to their new resort. If the room isn't ready yet, you can store your luggage with bell services. Luggage is not allowed on Disney transportation.

As for the resort, I would think a monorail resort or even the Wilderness Lodge would be fun for a split stay for a honeymoon. Its a different area than Pop, which has the Skyliner, so it would be easy to do MK and take advantage of the resorts in that vicinity during that portion of your stay.

The Contemporary Theme Park View would be really nice for a honeymoon, you could watch the fireworks from your balcony.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is really nice and unique. I did my engagement pictures here, if you wanted to add on a photography session with Disney at a hotel this is a great spot for that.

Boardwalk or Yacht Club are really nice, walking distance to two parks.

You should get the Mickey and Minnie wedding ears when you go so everyone knows you're on your honeymoon.
