Hi all,

We're about to start making the bookings for our honeymoon next year. Have any ladies here had their passports changed in advance of the wedding date so it's in your married name for the honeymoon? I'm just debating which name to do the bookings in, maiden or married. I want to use my married name but am worried about things not running smoothly.

I travelled in my maiden name as not only would the passport have to be changed but also credit cards and driving licence! Too much hassle IMHO.

Claire ;)

I travelled with my maiden name as well.

Good news, I travelled in my married name 2 days after our wedding. If I remeber correctly, you can have your passport changed up to 3 months before your wedding. I had to pay our vicar £5 to swear an affidavit to say that I was me, then he filled in a little form to say we were to be married, I posted it all off with my application form and voila - no problem. I would do it, it's fab to be called Mrs everywhere you go.

Don't have a driving license, only a provisional so no hiring cars - but as I'd only be using it for ID in bars, the bartenders wouldn't know that I'd recently married and I doubt it would be a problem.

The only credit card I own is a joint one with OH so he can do all the buying, I can just use cash.

Hmmm, decisons decisions.

My wife 19 years ago (our first Florida trip! Where HAS the time gone????)
flew on her maiden name.
You will have dedcades to be called Mrs Kingie... :goodvibes :goodvibes

I travelled under my married name - I remember how nice it was when we were greeted by the Rep as Mr & Mrs! My M-I-L actually booked our honeymoon (bless her :goodvibes ) DH got all the brochures and she worked out the best deal for what he could afford. He told me that it would be a Disneymoon on the way to the reception.

(If it had been left to him we probably would still be waiting to honeymoon 8 years later :rotfl: )

I used my maiden name, as it was just easier really. I was worried that something would go wrong and we wouldn't be able to honeymoon or something! :)

i travelled on my married name 2 years ago (how time flies). we had a form from the post office that the vicar had to sign to prove that we were getting married and it was all pretty simple. I didn't worry about my credit cards until we got ome as i wasn't going to use them.

you can change your passport 3 months in advance so no worries about not geting it in time. It might have been easier to travel on my maiden name but i wanted to be a "Mrs" :goodvibes

I had no choice and had to travel in my Maiden name as i was getting married abroad so i would have been Miss on the way out and Mrs on the way back which would have been far too much work to sort out LOL!!

If its only your passport you have to worry about then it shouldnt be too much hassle!

Dito-Just remember as well that your flight :thumbsup2 ticket needs to match the name on the passport.

I traveled in maiden name- make the most of it -
My friend freaked out at being a MRS for about a year! and hated every time it was mentioned. you just don't know how you will react!

Am I the only one who thinks this is a little odd, if you love him enough to marry him, surely you want to be his MRS. I couldn't wait.
