Honeybaked Ham... worth the money?

I'm going to join the "very good but not worth the money group". We've had Honey Baked hams twice a year for 15 years, couldn't talk me out of them, we loved them and would spend the money on them.

This past New Years, which is one of the holidays we serve them for, life was too hectic and I forgot to order the ham and didn't have the time to drive over an hour to the nearest store to pick one up. I went to my local butcher and got a spiral ham there that came with a packet of the honey glaze...let me tell you it was so easy to prepare and my family raved and raved about that ham AND it cost half of what a Honey Baked ham costs.

Needless to say, no more Honey Baked hams for us...that other half of the $$ we would have spent on it is going into our WDW fund!

I LOVE the taste of them. They are great warm, cool, or even straight from the fridge cold. We have gotten many in the past.

That being said....I wish they'd spiral them farther down the ham. Seems like I get about 1/2 way through the ham and the spiral feature stops. Now I'm left with a CHUNK of ham. Sure, I know, I could cube it up and use it in recipes, but I much prefer the slices.

I can't tell you how many honeybaked ham shank bones I've stored in my freezer THINKING I was going to make something (i.e. bean soup) with them but never did.

I do love the taste though. And I'm excited the in-laws are getting one for Easter. :)
