My fiance and I are getting married at the Disney Wedding Pavillion on Jan. 5th of next year. We were planning on spending out honey moon at WDW as well. We have been pondering the thought of staying in one of the cabins for about a week or so. Does any one have any opinions on wether or not it is a good idea?I actually run 2 campgrounds in Maine and enjoy the camping atmosphere. We would apprecaite any opinions, advice, or tips that would help us :)

having stayed at 2 Disney Hotels, I prefer the campground. Lots more frendly people. Cabins are nice from what I have heard. Just a warning if you have never ever been to Fort Wilderness. They set the standard for campgrounds. I have never stayed in any campground that was so well taken care of.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!:goodvibes I think the cabins are a great idea. We fell in love with FW after staying in the cabins. We went to other WDW resorts, from value to deluxe, and kept going back to FW. We finally bought a tt--with 4 kids it enables us to go to FW more often. Good luck!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!:cheer2: And welcome to the camping board!

If you enjoy the campground atmosphere, then I say GO FOR IT! You'll love FW!! It has the atmosphere you enjoy PLUS so much more! I would suggest reserving a golf cart for the week. "Looping" through the campground is a favorite pass time for lots of folks. Trails Inn has breakfast lunch and dinner, and full service bar. You're only a short boat ride away from WL or CR. You can take carriage rides, or take a hayride ride to watch Wishes from a super secret "magical" spot! Trust me, the music from Wishes is playing as if you were right in front of the castle! ;)

Good luck with your planning!

Congrats ! the cabins are a great place to honeymoon, no thin walls and nosey neighbors. The frig also comes in handy for the champagne. :lovestruc  :bride: :love2:

The Fort is a great place for a honeymoon. We honeymooned ther in 1992. Of course we tent camped which is a whole other story.:rotfl:

plus, unlike some other places, they enforce quiet time after 10pm!

Leaving the MDGG party at 10:00pm does not mean they are enforcing the quiet time!:scared1:

We spent our Honeymoon at the Fort in 2006 and we're going back this year for our anniversary. We LOVE it there and wouldn't want to stay in any other place while visiting Disney.

First...:welcome: to the camping board.

Second..: you aren't drunken nudists are ya? :confused3

:rotfl2:

I only ask because over on the community board there was/is a question regarding an adults only/minimum age requirement resort. It was the opinion of some that if adults were visiting Disney without children somehow they are drunken nudists. Sooo...you all being honeymooners, I want to make sure you know we are family resort ::cop: ..and we keep all our clothes on at all times,..even in the pool..you will be required to swim in long sleeves and pants. None of that "I have a bathing suit stuff".

I'm wondering if you are going in early January, if they will still have some of the Christmas decorations up..that might be very nice. Many of the campers that visit that time of year decorate their sites for the holidays as well.. Cabins are lovely..although a bit removed from the marina and trading post areas. I would definely recommend renting a golf cart. It's a wonderful fun way to get around the campground, and transportation won't be as much of an issue.

we were there the first week of Jan. no x-mas decorations but there were some Valentines Day decos up.

Definitely! We have stayed at all levels of WDW resorts and there's something special about FW. I love it there. If that's what you like, what the hey? If you plan on spending a lot of time at FW you may want to consider renting a golf cart for the occasional looping.

We were at fall wedding at WDW in 2006 and the pavilion is absolutely gorgeous. I can't think of a better place to have a wedding. The reception was in the evening on that little island between UK and France. that was great too. The best place I've ever been to watch Illuninations!
