I thought I read somewhere that the HISK playground at MGM was for kids 4 and up but cannot find that now. Is this true? and Do they enforce these age limits?

We have a DS 6 who saw this in the planning video and CANNOT wait to go there and also a DD 2 1/2. If he is allowed to do it and she can't, it'll be a major hissy fit for her. She's 2, so everything can become a hissy fit - LOL. Anyway she adores her big brother and wants to do everything he does, so I may have to take him back myself on a separate day for him to enjoy if she can't do it.

I have never seen it, so I don't know what it entails. Is it really geared for the 4 - 8 group? or are there some smaller things that my DD could do if supervised closely by us?

Any help would really be appreciated.

I didn't go in there our last trip (kids are 11 and 14, they went in together, my mom and I got a nice break with a cool drink!) but I remember that there was a 'tot' section to the whole thing a few years ago! Smaller climbing things, a little slide, tiny climb-through ant hill type stuff...

There is plenty for the younger one to do. The only thing I can think of that might be too much is the big climbing rope web. DS was just 4 on our first family trip & we took him up the web.

Warning tho, it's hard to keep track of kids in there.

My son has been in there many times before he turned 4. It is hard to keep up with them, but there is plenty for them to play on.

From the entrance, if you head to the left side, it's a little bit tamer for the younger crowd. A small slide, musical stepping stones, little tunnels. If you head veer right is where the climbing nets are and that's a bit big for a 2 1/2 yr old, but perfect for a 6 yr old. The middle section has tunnels & slides that are a little bit more advanced for the 2 1/2 yr old, but there is also a large water spout (be careful of that - you can get pretty soaked).

There is only one entrance and one exit, manned by a CM - there are a couple CMs inside too.

Thanks everyone. I am sure they will both really enjoy it immensely. They are playground kind of kids.

I do not like this play area. With all the tunnels and stairs going in many directions it is very easy to get separated from you kids especially if you have more than one. Even though there is an employee at the exit, there are many people leaving at a time and your child could just follow another family looking for you. I make one adult wait at the exit for the entire time to make sure that this does not happen. That aside, my kids just love the place!

Our 3yo DGS loved everything about HISTK play ground when we brougth him last December, he didn't want to leave. I second mhaley's comment about how easy it is to lose sight of a child in this play area.

mhaley,

Really appreciate the tip. We will definately do this. I will aid DD and my DH will be the lookout.

This is one of the many reasons I love these boards. Others always willing to point out their concerns or their experiences help make the rest of us more prepared. Thanks again!

Just wanted to add that my 2.5 yo played there a couple weeks ago, too, and no one was enforcing the "4 and up" thing. I had noticed it, too, on a map I think is where I read it, and I was a little worried about it, but the silly thing is that there is that tiny tot area that is way too small for a 4yo! My 2.5yo played in all the big kid areas, too (she is quite the little monkey!), and was definitely watched by a CM for a time when she climbed up the roll of film slide and wouldn't come back down from where she wasn't supposed to be , but the CM never said a word about her age.

Have fun!
