We always add a HBH with our Thanksgiving dinner each year.
I usually went and stood in line on the Wednesday before for at least an hour to pick up, then they started shipping the hams, I paid about $15 for the convenience. I just went online to order and the now want $55-58 to deliver Saturday-Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Wednesday is $15, I chose Wednesday and then a pop-up comes up on the screen, our produt is shipped frozen and if you want it to enjoy on Thanksgiving pick another delivery date. I cannot believe the greed this year.
I thought maybe I waited to long to order, but I ordered on this day last year and paid $15.

My family loves this ham, but I refuse to buy from them now on principle.

Any recomendations for a good ham will be appreciated.

Where are you located? HBH is headquartered a few miles from me, so we have physical stores all around.

I have purchased knock offs from stores, and they've been okay, but never as good. Check out Sams or Costco, or your local grocer. I believe Publix has a version.

You could also check out some of the farm-to-table places that are around. I just checked the one we like, but they don't have hams, they have other cuts.

If you have an Aldi's nearby their double glazed ham is 1.89 a pound. It's really good. You get a packet of glaze with it too but don't use it. It's fine without it.
They also have a normal spiral ham for $1.49 a pound. Glaze packet included. I usually don't use it on this one either.
And their regular hams are .89 shank and $1.09 Butt. That Glaze packet from above. When I buy one of these, I use the glaze packet left over from the other ones on it.

But get there quickly. They usually run out before thanksgiving, get them back afterwards, and run out before Christmas.

Are they as good as Honeybaked? Well no but the $1.89 one is darn close. And the others are good too. And at that kind of pricing, uh well the bang for the buck blows the doors off honeybaked. The 6 pound bone in half ham at Honeybaked came out to over $11 a pound. The 10 pound bone in half came out to just under $9 a pound.

To get as close to Honeybaked as they do at less than 1/4 the price, I'm not going back to Honeybaked any time soon. Just take a 10 pounder. We're talking less than $20 at Aldis and $90 at Honeybaked. There's no contest. Honeybaked is a little better. But not nearly enough better to pay 4 times as much. And it is so close that I'm not missing Honeybaked at all.

I second Cannnot_Wait_4Disney's suggestion. We have gotten our holiday hams at Aldi's for the last couple of years. They were absolutely tender and delicious. We waited till they were on sale, then went and each picked up 2. We had one for Thanksgiving, froze one, cooked one up for his boss after her Dad passed away, and he cooked one and took it to the work Thanksgiving potluck. For the price you cannot beat it.

I've bought Smithfield at the grocery store forever. Always good.

I was craving ham already this week and bought one that we are eating now.

HBH is the best in my book. I wonder if you could order it through Uber Eats to skip the high delivery fee?

As others have said, we have started just getting our hams elsewhere. We do enjoy the HBH's more, but have found that the hams at the supermarkets with the flavor packs are really good and much cheaper. No, its no the same, but for the price we are more than happy and haven't had a HBH in many years.

Buy a regular ham at the grocery store (spring for the spiral cut if you like), stick some cloves in it at random points, drizzle it in honey then coat it with a thick layer of brown sugar. Keep the honey close by as you might need to drizzle more to make lots of sugar stick to it. Then wrap a piece of foil around it to help hold the sugar on while you bake it, and bake according to the instructions on the little tag. My mother likes to use the cloves to "pin" slices of pineapple to the ham to make it fancy, but I find that unnecessary. The results are yummy! I've never had Honey Baked Ham though, so I can't compare.

Honey Baked Ham USED to be a reasonably price product and very popular for various holidays. Frankly, for what they now cost at around $10/lb, you can get many other grocery store brands that are just at good at a fraction of that price. Probably the reason there are fewer Honey Baked stores now, they just priced themselves out of the market. It also seemed that around holidays, Honey Baked hams didn't have as good of a flavor perhaps due to speeding up the smoking/curing process to increase their output. We no longer buy them.

I had a HBH at a family function once and it just wasn't great, I think it was just that one but honestly was a bit dry, too sweet. Just bleh.

I'll just pick up a full shank unsliced, score the layer of rind with a knife, coat with yellow mustard, then brown sugar, then crushed gingersnap cookies, and bake that. Use an electric knife to slice it. So easy and my family thinks I spent a ton on it.

I don’t know where you live, but if you can get a Dearborn Ham, they are comparable to a HBH and much cheaper.

I've never had a HBH but it's ham, I mean is there that much difference in the meat than when you buy one at the store to cook?
If it's because of the glaze, or however they prepare it, that should be easy to do yourself or like others mention do something else that is just as good.
I do a glaze using the packets plus orange juice concentrate and mustard and use an oven bad to cook the ham. It is really good and stays really moist.

Am I the only one who doesn't like honey baked hams? I like ham but don't want it sweet.

Part of the appeal of Honey Baked Ham used to be the spiral slicing which meant it was easier to serve to guests. Now, many other store bought hams are also spiral sliced. As someone else mentioned, it is still just a ham and there are many other quality grocery store hams which are just as good for far less money.

Sorry, but fried, candied ham is the only reason to cook a ham in the first place! It is the perfect combo of sweet and salty. I bake my ham in brown sugar, but when I fry slices in the skillet I sprinkle MORE brown sugar on top for an extra treat. We eat that for breakfast for a few days and then when there's no more good slices to fry I cut up the rest of the ham, either cube it for use in split pea soup or put it in the food processor for ham salad sandwiches. I only allow myself to cook a ham twice a year because I think I'm addicted to those fried candied ham slices.
