Honestly will I regret CSR? after BW?

Hiya guys
My husband and I had an INCREDIBLE honeymoon two years ago staying for 10 days at the Boardwalk Villas! We are looking to celebrate our 2 year anniversary in August/September but it seems like renting points has gotten quite a bit more expensive and there is a good UK offer for free dining at CSR, so for the same price as renting points at BWV we could stay at CSR and get most of our meals paid for. Do you think we will regret this trade off? We loved being able to walk to two parks and I am afraid we are spoiled now, but I really want to keep this trip to a budget if possible!

is there an alternate moderate resort you would suggest? we are adults only, love park hopping and having a chance to take a break mid afternoon between parks.

thanks for any help!

I would avoid at rush time personally since the renos will be in full swing by then. What about port Orleans French quarter?

DH and I love romantic getaways at CSR. It is the most adult friendly of the moderates, IMO. It is so pretty and romantic to stroll around the lake at night and we actually like the food there very much.

Business class is a really nice little perk for very little extra $$.

We like POR as well, and have enjoyed our stays there, but we don't miss it when staying in CSR. WE enjoy both for different reasons.

How about a split stay?

thanks for your thoughts! how would you rate the two in regards to transportation to the parks?

I stayed at the BC which shared transportation with BWI. I think CSR was great! I found that it was fast and convenient.

I always suggest CSR for adults who choose moderate stays. The resort is lovely, the staff very professional and friendly. Our room was spotless. The dining plentiful.

I think if you are concerned that you will notice a lack of amenities, choose business class. It will add a level if services and convenience for a relatively little cost.

I admit I like the deluxe resorts, but I don't find a moderate a problem when we choose to stay at that level. I do believe that you have to have reasonable expectations, and go into the trip with them, but I always enjoy my stays. My personal favorite is POFQ.

Is the food court still the same weird system with a ticket you hold onto until you've finished eating rather than the get the food, pay, eat system of normal food courts?

No, it is just like all the other food courts now. Get your food, pay and then be seated. The drink refills are self serve as well. No gratuity added either:thumbsup2

I will say that in addition to budget you should take in to account your touring style. We love the Epcot resorts because we don't generally stay all day in the park--we take a break in the afternoon to swim, then saunter back into a park for dinner and evening entertainment. For us, having to take (and wait for) four buses a day means a lot of lost time. We found that paying a bit more to stay at the EP resorts in a standard room was worth it to have that flexibility and may not be that much more than staying business class at CSR (though I haven't compared pricing on the two, so I can't say that for sure). Also, for our family, we do not like the dining plan for reasons of too much food and too much set gratuity. We'd rather find a discounted room-only reservation and pay out of pocket for meals; after comparing receipts between our free dining trip and our room-discount trip with out of pocket meals at the same resort, we saved more with the room discount and we ate the food we wanted.

We love our deluxe stays as you can see by my signature but we also really enjoy CSR and often go back and forth... in fact, we just got back from another wonderful split stay between CSR and YC. We consider CSR a "deluxe light" and it's our favorite moderate. I wouldn't hesitate going back and forth.

Love CSR! You will not be disappointed in how nice it is for the price. This is coming from someone who stays CL at the BWI :)

I've stayed at all the deluxe resorts except WL and all the moderates except POFQ and will say that CSR was my least favorite moderate. That's not saying I wouldn't stay there again if the price is right and I can't really say why it's my least favorite since there was nothing wrong with it. It surprised me since I'm a New Mexico brat and love all things SW but for some reason I just didn't enjoy it as much as CBR or POR. Having said that, would you feel bad stepping down from BWV? Depends on what your goals are. Have you thought about Swan/Dolphin? Sometimes, if you can swing a discount like AAA or teacher or hit it at the right time of year, you can get a stay at one of them for a moderate price. They are right there at Epcot/HS and share most WDW perks. You can not get MDE and you can not charge back to the room but you can use the Disney internal transportation and you can have your packages shipped back to the room. If you look at the prices, make sure you factor in their nightly resort charge, it will show up on their web site but if you are going through a 3rd party like Orbitz, it won't show up until you check out. Also, as others have said a split stay might be a good option.

thanks for all your helpful comments!
we are now thinking 8 nights in a moderate and 5 at the boardwalk villas so we get a bit of the best of both worlds! We love the fun theming of CBR but it seems to me that the transport at CSR seems more efficient, with better amenities, and we would be more likely close to a drinks refill location (likely no further then our far away villa room at the Boardwalk, about 5 minutes walk which we didn't really mind!) but in general according to trip adviser everyone seems to like POR consistently best (but would add another $150 to our trip) seeing as transport is our number 1 priority above all, do you think POR has better transport, or about the same? We are coming from the UK so taking advantage of the free dining offer that ends Thursday or we would have maybe considered staying off property/ at the Swolphin for part of the trip. If you have any final help we would appreciate it!

We have found the buses at CSR to be extremely efficient and never waited more than 10-15 at most for a bus. Now, I will say that if being close to the main bldg. for food and refills is important, than you will want to book a preferred room to guarantee the close proximity. Even though there are standard views spread throughout the resort, you would have to put in a request to be closer to the main lobby and well, requests are never guaranteed so make sure you've taken the cost of a preferred room into consideration should you decide to go that route.

I was nervous about staying at CSR for a conference as we have only stayed at Deluxes and I love BWI/BWV! I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the rooms and the resort as a whole. I thought the room was spacious, clean and very comfy. I really enjoyed the resort and did not find it too large. The internal bus system was so easy and quick. It did not add really any extra time to the transportation.
