Honestly, how is the Whispering Canyon Cafe?

Our family just isn't into the real big showy/interactive type eating places but we would love to stay at Wilderness Lodge perhaps and mabye try the Whispering Canyon but from some pictures/videos I've seen on sites, I'm not sure if we will be real comfortable there or not but I would hate to not try it. Is the food good? We had a waiter at the Hard Rock one time at the beach that was a little too chipper at our meal, taking a seat at our table, up for chit-chat, etc and we just weren't comfortable with that. Just some opinions would be great-THANKS! Any pics would be good too.

Love the Wilderness Lodge, don't care for Whispering Canyon food at all.

If you don't like the waiters/ waitresses sitting down at the table and being overly friendly then you might want to avoid the wispering canyon. The servers like to do thing such as bringing you a pitcher of soda with straws when you ask for a refill or having the entire restaurant bring you their tables ketchups if you ask for some. Oh, and don't even THINK about talking on your cellphone!

It's all alot of fun, but if that ain't your cup o tea, head over to artist point.

I've got a good video of all the kids in the restaurant being led by our waiter singing "It's a small world" to my dad since his disney spirit wasn't up to par... :rotfl2:
can't figure oot how to post it here though

I agree. If you just want to be left alone to enjoy a meal, WC isn't for you. And even if your server will leave you alone, you're still forced to watch (and hear) all the antics at other spots.
I can still hear the thumping of serving trays on the floor and the cries of "Yi Hah".

Whispering Canyon is open to the lobby at WL, so you can stand in the lobby and observe for awhile. Believe me, you can hear it from ALL over the lobby. :lmao:

You'll get a good idea of the goings-on, and can decide then whether you'd like to try it. From what you've said, though, I don't think your family would care for it. It's definitely interactive; if you ask for ketchup, the waiters will holler for everyone at the restaurant to bring their ketchup to your table. Singing, stick-pony races, that sort of thing. If you don't like being singled out for attention, it's not the place for you.

I made ADR's for her for my son & I and I'm looking forward to a night of just crazy dinner-ing. I'm sure it's a nice change of pace and it's tough to have a nice quiet meal with a 5 year old, so anything he'll enjoy is fine by me!!

Ate at the WC for the first time in Dec for lunch. We were there and decided to try it. While we were being seated, I told the hostess we didn't want to be bothered. We weren't! Our waitress couldn't of been nicer and more respectful of our wishes. We really got a kick out of the 'entertainment' they did provide with the other guests. Thought the food was WDW food, had a burger, it was a good burger as burgers go, so big, I only ate half. Yes, I'd go back, wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but we were there checking out the Christmas decorations. To me, a little hidden gem for Christmas decorations is Fort Wilderness, boy those campers decorate! Loved being able to walk around the campground and checking it all out (can rent golf carts there too), it's only a boat ride away from Wilderness Lodge.

We ate at WCC for lunch in December since we were staying at WL. Our server left us alone and since it was one of the late lunch services there was almost no one there. There were a few tables that were doing antics but our server picked up on us just wanting a nice meal for our anniversary. We got the skillet and didn't care for much on it except those ribs. We made a meal off of those ribs.

When we ate there, we could not eat the meals becuse they were so horrible! I know people like it and maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but half of the steak was fat- and I don't mean fatty, it was just pure fat. I wish I took a picture because it was disgusting.

We just had dinner at Whispering Canyon last saturday night(2/2). It was our first time eating there and overall we weren't impressed. Our waiter wasn't very friendly. The kids games are cute and my little sister loved them. The food was very mediocre. Definitely nothing special. We loved the WL it was beautidul, but Whispering Canyon just wasn't as good as everyone makes it seem. We won't be returning.

I haven't eaten there, but my DH and I spent FOUR hours sitting in the WL lobby in January while our daughter's car was being repaired at the AAA Car Care Center. (Yeah, 4 hours - we know the WL inside and out now LOL).

We got to observe and listen to the antics at WCC for all that time and I can assure you, if you aren't into interactive dining, pass on this one. The "COME AND GIT IT!" holler was enough to make a person deaf, and I wasn't even sitting very close to the "hollerer".:rotfl:

But those pony races were pretty funny.:lmao: Especially when the 350 pound dad was running around on one.:rotfl:
