Honest opinions of Boma

I've been looking at Allears.net as well as my Passporter, not to mention the countless recommendations for Boma on the boards. We are not picky eaters by any means but I am a little apprehensive. What kind of food is offered at Boma and how did you like it??? Is it worth the money as well?

If I had to pick a favorite, it would most likely be Boma.
I am kind of adventurous when it comes to food, but I am from the midwest so I love my meat and potatoes stuff as well. Boma has something for everyone.
The soups are out-of-this-world. I have dreams about the Chicken Pepperpot. (Not really, but I could, it's that good.) The prime rib is soooo nicely spiced, and you can choose whatever type of sauce you want, from plain to exotic. The salads are good, the veggies are good, the desserts...OMG. It's just an overall wonderful dining venue. It really is.

Boma is my all-time favorite! It just never dissappoints. I cannot imagine anyone dining there and not finding plenty of food that they like. I wouldn't go to WDW without dinner at Boma

According to my DH, I'm the pickiest eater in the world so we were both shocked when Boma turned out to be one of my favorites. I love the spices they use, the soups are so good and they have several different types of hummus which were great. I overhead a woman at a table telling the waiter that she didn't like spice on the chicken and 10 minutes later, he came back with some chicken the chef made for her without the spice. I think they have a good variety of food.

I'm sure that there will be tons of people to disagree. But we did NOT care for Boma all that much. We had free dining and decided to give it a try based on all the rave revues. But we were exceptionally disappointed. DH, our 11 and 13 y.o. kids (at the time) and I found most of the food to be way too wierd for our tastes. I'd say we somewhat adventurous, but not that adventurous that Boma was a good match for us. Since we had free dining, I would by no means complain, but if I had paid OOP, I'd been disgusted with the cost of the meal for what they were serving. Our dessert selection that day, wasn't that great IMO, they didn't have zebra domes and the other dessert everyone raves about from there. I'd say study the menu carefully. Have everyone going check to make sure that there are several things they'd like to try. MANY things we only took one bite of because we thought they tasted gross! But again, that is our family's opinion. But we can say that we gave it a try! Personally, if I had it to do over, I would do the breakfast there as my DSis and her family quite enjoyed the breakfast, but had the same opinion about the dinner menu. Boma is absolutely not my favorite WDW restaurant, yet I have eaten there 3 (I think) times. The first time I honestly disliked it. Now I just don't love it. So why do I keep eating there? I'm honestly not sure.
It's like when someone says, "This tastes wierd. Taste it!" And you do. Then, to make sure it tasted as wierd as you think it did, you taste it again. That's really the only way I can explain it. I'm drawn to it out of sheer disbelief that such a place could and does get such rave reviews from most everyone but me, I guess. I'm still waiting and prepared to see the great Boma light.

We loved Boma! We are a vegetarian family and loved how many different options there were for vegetarians. We also love various ethnic and spicy (as in flavorful, not hot) foods. There was a great variety and it was all very tasty. I think Boma does that type of food very well, but you have to enjoy that type of cuisine in general to begin with, so it is not for everyone.

None of us like Boma and we adore etnic foods. We had two poor experiences there and have no desire to go back.

Love it!!! The soups and dips are so Yummy!!!!!! And so different!!

We dined at Boma OOP and enjoyed it. There are so many dishes offered that it would have been impossible not to find something good...but I thought many of the foods were really good and interesting. I especially remember the nut-crusted salmon (I think that's what it was) was wonderful and I went back for more.
Also it was my first visit to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and that was spectacular...we walked around outside afterward and looked at the animals through night-vision goggles - my kids loved this.

My family are Boma fans, too. The selection is huge and there are so many choices. We tried foods that we have never been exposed to and absolutely loved it. The flavors and spices are awesome. Everything tasted so fresh. It's fun and exciting, too, walking through the buffet line and reading the names of some of the dishes. Some of the food might look a little "weird" depending on what you are use to. But if you give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised. Yes, of course there were a couple of things that each one of us did not like or particularly care for, as can be the case at any buffet you eat at. But there were so many different dishes that we did love and we ate well, believe me. I think it is well worth the price as the quality and quantity are wonderful.

We're moderately adventurous eaters, but there just wasn't that much that tasted good at Boma during our visit there in December. It was OK, but a big let down after all the hype. In the end, we preferred the new Tusker House at Animal Kingdom, which is similar but we felt it had better tasting food, as well as better service and ambiance.
