We have a 2005 Grand Caravan SXT that we are going to trade in. I have it narrowed down to these three. Which would you choose and why? If you own one of these three I would like some feedback good and bad please.

Honda Pilot.
They go forever.
I've owned different Honda's over the past 20 years and they have never let me down.
My last Accord lasted me 10 plus years. Change the fluids, tires and brakes. The A/C was still ice cold.
We now have a 2007 Civic and love it.
Looked at the Pilot's but since we were buying a second vehicle we wanted something smaller and better on fuel in the city. When our Windstar is finished we'll buy something like a Pilot or CRV.
If you are in the GTA pm me, my cousin sells Honda's.

We are in Calgary and the Pilot was my first pick also. Thanks for your advice!

We're a toyota family. toyota hasn't failed us yet!!

Dh is on his 2nd Camry now (and had a corolla before that) and loves them. We had the chance to drive a highlander as a rental in august for a week and that will be our next vehicle. It's all dh has talked about and since he's started looking I'm sure I'll have one by the end of this year!!

What we did when we narrowed down the choice for a vehicle is we found one to rent for a week to make sure we liked driving it.

Wish we'd done that with our MPV we have now as we wouldn't have bought it.

My pick would be either the Honda or the Toyota. You're going to pay a slight premium for the quality, but it'll definitely help on the resale.

You're going to get hosed on the trade-in, so my recommendation would be to sell it yourself. I know it's a hassle, but you've never experienced lowballing until you hear the value they give you on a trade in. The recent car I sold privately for $22,000 - dealer was going to give me $16,000 (after tax benefit would bring it to $18,000).

Just have it detailed (inside and engine) and post 'er up in the local Autotrader and online sites (PM me if you need a list).

I just recently purchased a new family vehicle...We test drove all those and more. We needed to replace an 11 year old GM van... didn't really want another van, wanted more SUV with AWD, but still needed the space and versatilty. They were all either too big, too small, too expensive, too cheapy...etc. We just about gave up and decided on another van until I drove a Freestyle AWD. It was just perfect for our needs. 6 month old 2007 Freestyle at half the price it was new. Heated leather, 7 passenger, DVD, AWD, 20K for under $20K.
Never owned a Ford before but I couldn't pass it up.

Wow good score. How many KM's on the Freestyle?

I sold my 1997 Honda, that was in rough shape, on Kijiji in 1 hour.
Posted the ad. Received an e-mail 10 with in 10 minutes.
40 minutes guy was at my house and bought the car.

The dealer offered me $1000 for it and I sold it for $3000.
Much below the book value of an Accord for that vintage but I sold it as is.
It needed tires, brake, a radiator, exhaust work etc.
I posted the ad listing all the work the car needed.

Don't think I would bother ever paying again for a classified ad in the newsparper or Auto Trader.

Kijiji and Craigslist do not charge for posting ads unless in Kijij's case you want them feature.

Picture I posted with my ad featuring alovely modl along with the car.
Here's an image I posted with the ad featuring my youngest as the model.

That's exactly what I did, but it was an 06 SEL FWD for under 15k with 50k kms on it. It was $37,000+tax new (have the window sticker). Horrible depreciation which was great for us. I love the car, super gas mileage (8.0L/100kms on the highway, just like the sticker says it should), lots of warranty and everyone who sees it asks me what it is and is amazed at how much room it has. I believe it to be an very under appreciated and unknown vehicle. You hear a lot of comments about it being underpowered, but I find it just fine, plus it's extremely safe.

I am trying to find a 07 pilot so someone else can soak the depreciation for us. It has been not so easy tho! I may have trouble selling privately because there are such a glut of them here. The one advantage we do have it only has 50k and nothing owing on it. Dh prefers the highlander. I prefer the pilot so we may have to go do some looky looing!

Just over 28K

You hear a lot of comments about it being underpowered, but I find it just fine, plus it's extremely safe.

I think a lot of that comes from the CVT transmission...People get the impression because of the way it feels (no shifts) and sounds, that it is underpowered. I find it provides a very smooth ride, I really like it. The safety curtain (based on Volvo XC90) and crash rating was another big selling point for us.

Of the 3 mentioned, I have only driven the Pilot. I liked it but for me it was just too big. But I stayed with Honda and got a CR-V, which I love, love, love.

The Pilot drove very nicely and the options were great, but we already have a Navigator so I traded in the Pilot for something smaller for myself.
