Homewood Suites

So DH and I are looking at getting a weekend away from the kids. My mom will be watching them and she is a "little" freaked out. So we promised to stay within a reasonable distance from them. My aunt and uncle recommended Homewood Suites. DH and I would basically hole up in a room for the weekend and enjoy not having kids for 3 days. What has been your experience with this chain??? DH and I rarely go anything more glamorous than Motel 6, so this would be a splurge for us.

Homewood suites is nice, it is a hilton brand hotel. they have free breakfast, and great size rooms, very comfortable. BUT, for about the same price you can get a room at Embassy Suites South, and have the same size room free breakfast, AND everynight they have a managers reception that has free appatizers, and FREE cocktails for 2 hours, nothing better than getting away from the kids and having a few cocktails on the house.

Homewood is our hotel of choice in the Disneyland area and I'm a bit of a hotel snob if I do say so myself. ;P

Homewood also has the Manager's Reception which is more of a dinner at Homewood. One night is tacos, one night bbq, etc. They also have free beer and wine. Free hot breakfast there too. Their rooms are renovated with contemporary furnishings and are on the same property as Oggi's restaurant, Red Robin, Joe's Crab Shack, Outback, Starbucks - you can walk to them.
