Just changed our reservation to this hotel. Looks like it is rather new. Has anyone stayed recently that can give me a review? Apparently the Toy Story parking lot is right next door, how long does it take to get to the gates on the tram?

I haven't stayed there, but also have a reservation for July. It gets great reviews on tripadvisor, and you can ask questions there. I think the tram ride is less than 5 minutes, but not certain.

We stayed in Jan and loved it. There were 4 of us 2 adults and 2 teens. It was clean and the staff were friendly and willing to help. The included breakfast was great. The laundry facilities were very handy. The toy storey parking lot is a short walk and we would often walk of a morning and catch the bus back in the evening. Every thing we needed was a short walk away.

We've stayed there several times and it is the best hotel around the parks! We are staying again next week! We've stayed at the Hilton, the other Homewood Suites, Embassy Suites, and the Grand Californian. It really is the best hotel!! I've never timed the distance, but we've never waited for a bus!

It includes dinner Monday-Thursday, correct?

Are you saying it was better than Grand Californian and if so, in what way?

We stayed there in April and really enjoyed it. The walk to the park took us about 20 minutes pushing two strollers. We tried taking the bus back a few times and found it to take about five minutes longer than walking.

The breakfast was great. We loved the big kitchen and full size fridge. It was nice to have the separate bedroom so we could put the kids to bed and let the grown ups stay up later.

Hmm... 20 minutes. I'm not sure I can handle that!

Is it possible to walk to the Toy Story parking lot and take the shuttle from there?

It does include food I think mon-Thursday evenings. We managed to sit down for it only once. It was simple and we used it as a snack before we went out to dinner latter. It is hard to fill teenagers and if they had been younger it may have been enough for dinner. It is a great idea but the time it is on did not suit us as we tended to stay out till quite late. We did make use of the breakfast most mornings.
We originally had booked to stay at the Disneyland hotel and then move to Homewood suites for the marathon weekend in Jan and then we were planning to move back to Disneyland hotel for the last few nights of our trip. We were really disappointed with the Disneyland hotel and decided to extend our stay at Homewood suites and cancel our stay at Disneyland hotel.
It is very easy to walk to the shuttle at toy storey and catch it. One morning I let everyone sleep in and I caught it to Disney and did some shopping caught it back with bags without any problems.

We are staying at DoubleTree again and it's further away and it takes us about 20 minutes to get to the park. I'm hoping to get us into Homewood just to try it out since it's brand new. Since it's less than a mile to the park I expect it'd take us about 15 minutes. Everyone's walking speed is so different especially with kids in the mix!

I'm debating Camelot again. But they're more expensive & no dinner m-th!

I haven't stayed there yet, but REALLY looking forward to our stay in August. Something about an included, full, hot breakfast just makes a vacation for me. And with my teenage son - he REALLY makes use out of that buffet. I can send the kids down to start eating as soon as they're up and dressed and then I can get the room and my stuff for the day organized and come down later. Plus with being on Eastern time and waking early - we will likely be the first ones down there and can take our time.

Aren't there 2 Homewood Suites locations? Just for the discussion on how far it is to walk I thought maybe people were referring to different locations. The new one and the closest, I believe - is Homewood Suites Anaheim Convention Center.

I have been reading all the reviews on Tripadvisor and many people say that they walk to the Toy Story lot and hop a shuttle there with no issues. I plan to walk there in the morning as we are fast walkers so I anticipate it taking us 12 - 14 minutes with fresh legs. Then likely hopping the shuttle at the end of the day with tired legs. The reviews also indicate that it is nice and clean since it is brand new and that the service is excellent. Apparently they have 'dive-in' movies at the pool in the evenings too.

Yes. I have only stayed at the older one. I thought it was great. If you have a car, get back early enough to find parking. While I was able to park, I did take the only available space twice. If you don't have a car, it's a short walk to the Toy Story lot. Google maps show it is a 2 mile walk to Disneyland Park.

I'm confused. Which Homewood are you talking about having a parking problem? You said you only have stayed at the older one but then mention the short walk to the Toy Story lot. Are there not enough parking spaces at the older one or the new one?

It was the older one. To me, it is a short walk to the Toy Story Lot. YMMV
