Hi all, I don't say much on these boards, but this is the first place I come for help, and I need HELP. I have had to take my DD (14) out of school and home-school for the time being due to some really nasty goings on.
I am lost. The school have helped a bit, but..... We are home now. where do I go from here. If any of you lovely Dissers have any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Holly:sick:

Hi Holly firstly I am so sorry to hear that you have had to take your daughter out of school and really hope things work out for you all I have 2 girls 16 and 14 years old and can only imagine how you must be feeling. Anyway have you tried to contact the Eduaction welfare officer EWO for your daughters school or also your local council website, I should imagine if it's like ours in cornwall you can go online to the county website and there is a section for education where you can get advice etc for home schooling etc amongst other things. also the children & family website might be able to point you in the right direction. Anyway hope this helps thinking of you all :goodvibes

I'm sorry you guys are going through this. I can imagine how overwhelming things must seem right now but homeschooling can be a very doable option - I have friends who have been doing it for years and love it, their kids are thriving!

The best website for getting started and finding out about local groups in your area is http://education-otherwise.net/ . You can also try this one: http://home-ed.info/ and this one: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/parents/schoolslearninganddevelopment/choosingaschool/dg_4016124

There are also schools online where your daughter can do GCSE's/A'levels and have tutors, exams etc like this one: http://www.oxfordhomeschooling.co.uk/

I hope you guys are able to find something that works well and that your daughter doesn't have to go through any more horrible stuff
