Homeschool bugets,resources, etc

Just wanted to get some ideas feed back etc. I would love some new internet resources,websites, etc that you like. Also if it is not too personal-what do you think is a realistic homeschool budget for a year including classes, sports, books, field trips etc. I get my money for the year in Feb. and don't think I was very realistic last year. I would like to do a better job this year.
Scholastic has a great website for Thanksgiving (wish I could get the sound to work) They will also let you order from their bookclubs. Don't forget about Pizza Hut's bookit program.

You don't mention how many children you have, what their ages are and what type of classes they attend.....

What did you average this past year? You said that it wasn't enough... how much more would have made it more comfortable?

I have 4-I had $800 but I tried to get all of their sports out of that. Mine are young and I wouldn't feel like they would need to do sports at this age except that since they do not have P.E. I feel as if it is a nice way for them to learn rules of games etc.I tried to get AWANA books and Scout books out of that too but ended up taking that out of household. My oldest took 2 classes this semester and the middle 2 took 1 each and that was $70 total-which I feel is a really good deal. I just can make it all add up so quickly-I am always looking for ways to stretch a dollar

We have had up to 5 HSing at any given time, and ususally spend about $1400. We re-use some curriculum, I buy a bit new each year, and that doesn't include music lessons.
After years of ordering books, I've finally started just borrowing them from the library. my house has become over-burdened with books. They are eveywhere!

Another great resourse is our HS group. I've borrowed curriculum I've been curious about, on several occasions. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I don't. This has saved a great deal for us!

I have homeschooled all 5 of our chidren but, because of their ages I only homeschool 3 at the most - our oldest is 26 and our youngest is 5. This is either our 18th or 19th school year....

Right now if I include every extra activity (gymnastics for 2 of them = $90 a month, ballet for the other = $125 a month, Drama classes = $120 a month, Art classes = $140 a month, Piano = $120 a month, Science for one & Geometry for another = $120 a month) you can see it is quite a bit... BUT, it hasn't always beent hat way! When we didn't have as much extra income our kids did more co-op things so, it kept the cost down!

We also have a membership to the Science and Histroy museum (the family plus membership so, that it includes the Imax movies!)

I am a book/curriculum junkie (I also share alot of our books with others!) so, I would say we spend at $2,000 a year on books....

It doesn't have to be that way! I have also homeschooled using the library ALOT, the only curriculum bought was Math and then added in plenty of free or almost free field trips!

And going to the park was PE! Along with riding their bikes, roller blading and scootering.
