Homemade ornament ideas needed...

some of these ideas use candy - what would you use to spray them with so that they keep from year to year? thank you in advance!:)

We make new ornaments every year using salt dough and cookie cutters.I have some that I made back in 1983. If the are kept some place that is cool, low humidity they last a LONG time!!!

You can decorate with markers but don't know how long the color will last...I seal mine with Modge Podge.

Here idiot proof craft idea get some red and white pipe cleaners twist together and make shape of a candy cane. It can't get no simpler than that. This come from non crafty person that used to teach pre-k and had come with craft ideas was done craft person. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Cut 12 in pipe cleaner in half, put tribeads on it use needle nose pilers an bend end of wire so beads don't fall off bend into candy cane....Really pretty with red pipe cleaners an clear beads or can use christmas colored pipe cleaners an beads.

Another simple one for those that have left over scrapbook paper.
Buy the cardboard ornaments- tear up pieces of paper to about a 1/2 inch size _ cover the ornament with Modge podge- then stick the pieces on overlapping them
Then top it all off with the Glitter Modge Podge.

It's not as messy as it sounds and my kids really could do these completely alone(non crafty boys- without any help from crafty mom or crafty sis)

I used scrapbook paper because that's what I had- you could use napkins, wrapping paper, really whatever paper you have around the house (tissue not as great because it can bleed- and is just too flimsy imho for this one)

When my son was born I started to make Christmas Ornaments each year for the grandparents. I bought clear balls, had a colored Xerox copy of a picture of my son made and glued the picture of my son inside the ball. Then use glitter on the rest. So the whole inside of the ball is glitter and then my sons picture is in the middle. Add a cute ribbon or charm on top and they are good to go. It is really neat as you can see how he changed year to year. That being said, he is the only grandchild so there are 12 balls on the tree.

I also like the puzzle pieces frame that was mentioned earlier. they made those in the 3rd grade and sent them home for the parents. I put it in the tree every year.

I did the same ornaments 2 years ago with my DS.. His his handprint and then you just use the sharpies to make the fingers into snowmen, they were a HUGE hit..

Agreed this is an easy one- but make sure you get felt glue -our Walmart carries it, or somewhere like Michaels or Hobby Lobby would.

Regular Elmers glue doesn't work for felt.

We did these one year- pretty easy. We did the white paint, but then just used colored sharpies for the decorating after.
