My dad came over yesterday and needs to shoot some product pictures for a local catalog. Problem was we didn't have a light box to use for the product. After a quick trip to the craft store we picked up 5 pieces of foam board and some duct tape and built a box. We clamped some lights to the sides bouncing them off the foam board and added a piece of cardboard to the far end and curved it to the bottom to eliminate the seam where the foam board meet in the background. So far it's working pretty well for him. He has to shoot some fabric samples tomorrow so I thought I would just cut a couple of holes in the side of the foam board and run a small cafe curtain rod through it then drape the fabric over the curtain rod. I'll let you know how it works out.

Better yet...... can we see a picture of it?? It sounds really creative/neat!! :thumbsup2

wow do I feel embarrassed, I didn't even think about taking a picture of the light box. I'm to go down and check on his progress tomorrow. I'll see if I can take some pictures of the set-up to show you what we made. Sorry about that.

I made my own light box to use for my soap pics. I followed these instructions
http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html

I used a priority mail box I had sitting around, some tissue paper, and white posterboard.
here are some pics I took using it

I built my own lightbox a few weeks ago when I finally started to get serious about unloading some extra photo equipment. I started with a cardboard box (a fairly sturdy pullbox for 1000' of cat5e ethernet cable) and cut one side into two flaps and big holes in the left, right, and top sides. I taped some extra tissue-type paper (like used when gift-wrapping clothes in a box) over the holes. A cheapie piece of paper (under a buck) is the background.

All in all, I'm fairly satisfied with the results. The biggest thing is lighting now. I've used a couple matching desk lamps on either side but would also like some light from above. Now that my Cactus wireless triggers have arrived, I'm going to try using flash units.

Here's a shot that I took of one of the lenses I am selling.
