Trying to save some money this Christmas, I have made chocolate covered pretzels to go along with everyone's smaller gift this year. I used dark chocolate and I would like to drizzle white chocolate back and forth across them. Well, I melted the white chocolate but it won't drizzle off of the spoon. Is there something that I could add to the white to make it thinner so I could decorate these otherwise plain pretzels? TIA

Is it that the chocolate is too thick still? Could you try melting it some more? What about adding a little shortening or butter? I know I used some buter for my semi-sweet chocolate chips when I melted them for my pretzels.

When I did my chocolate drizzle over the pb dipped ones, I used a fondue skewer! lol perfect amount of chocolate was drizzled ;)
You could also add the melted chocolate to a baggie and snip off a tiny bit on an end. I used this method before too.

I usually add a tablespoon or so of Crisco shortening to the chocolate while I'm melting it, it seems to drizzle pretty well. HTH:thumbsup2

I add crisco shortening as well. I have found that the white choc gets much stickier than the semi-sweet - don't overmelt in the microwave either. I did have good luck the other day using white chocolate chips and shortening; I melted in 30-second intervals, stirred, and added a tiny bit more shortening each time until it was a good consistency for drizzling. Good luck!

The chocolate was definitely not too thick. I was able to use the white to make white choc covered pretzels and that worked just fine! I'll try the fondue stick this afternoon. I also tried the baggie trick, and that was a disaster too!!!

I just made LOTS of dipped pretzel rods for gifts. Thin the white chocolate with a spoonful of shortening (NOT butter or margarine) until it's the right consistency for you. I used a fork and got nice "drizzles".

we just made pretzel rods last night, melted almond bark and hit em w/ a few sprinkles :)

We also made the oreo balls that someone suggested here and they were fantastic!

Hmmm...well try the Crisco like others mentioned (I don't care for white chocolate and haven't used it) and hopefully that will help.

All I know is I made these for our family Christmas party on Saturday and they were the hit of the party!!! Everyone was whispering "who made the pretzel rods?". :goodvibes And to think I got all my info from here on the Dis! The toughest part about making them was keeping DH from eating them all  . I made a batch last weekend (getting a head start on making them for the party) and I came home from work Monday to see they were half gone :scared1: :sad2: . Oh Dh...lol!
I also loved using the candy melts. Found it was much easier to use than the chocolate chips :thumbsup2 . I drizzled some (looked like tiger tails), rolled some in red/gree sugar, and double/tripled dipped others.

Add a tiny bit of parafin wax. While I realize everyone is going to go  at that, that's what the professional chocolatiers use....you eat it every day, and it's completely harmles, and doesn't add calories. (it goes "right through" you, sorry if tmi)

These are a favorite around my house! :thumbsup2 I usually use white cholote first and drizzle with regular chocolate...using a fork dipped in it and just "sprinkle" from there. I have never added shortening to the chocolate, simply because I have not had a need.
Good Luck - I will be making a final batch tonight to give out to teachers tomorrow! Then I will be done with ALL holiday purchases/homemade items!
