Okay, so I "had enough" of my DD asking me if we were leaving for Disney World today and if she was 5 yet (she will turn 5 while on our trip) so I decided to make her a calender. It took me a LONG time to do it as we are not leaving until Jan. but she loves it. I wrote out every day until our departure day and under that I wrote how many days we have left and she decorated it with Disney stickers. Before she gets in bed every night she gets to scratch another day off and she can now "see" how many days before we leave!!! (BTW, tomorrow we can start the double digit dance, YEAH!!!)
Anyway, I just wanted to share this b/c it is working great and gives her something to look forward to and help in the planning of the trip!!!

I'm glad you did that for your DD. It's so much easier to understand time when you cross out one calendar day per real world day. Heck, I'm in my late 30s and I still do it! :)

that is adorable, do you have any pics to share, my son will beturning 6 while we are in disney Jan 13th but he is obssed with how many days till halloween/turkey-day/christmas/ my day with mickey

and now he is even more excited that he will be able to meet buzz while dressed as buzz (his halloween costume)

i am going to make a link chain when we hit the 30 day mark but i don't know how to keep him occupied till then. he has his own calendar that he crosses days off with out ever missing a day before going to bed!

I have no idea how to post pics on here! All I did was take a large sheet of paper and used a ruler to draw the boxes. I put the days of the week on the top and in each box the date and the number of days left. It took me a while b/c I wanted it "pretty" and then I just let my DD put stickers all over it to make it her own. For some reason this worked better than a regular calender b/c now she knows that on the last day of the calender is when we leave and she has a better grip on that.
If you can tell me how to post pics I can try to get a good shot of it and post it on here.

What a great idea... I do that for myself while I live at home with my parents...lol

Some peeps talk about taking those mickey paint chips ::MickeyMo And attaching them to a calendar with double sided tape. Each day let your child pull one off. Once there are no more paint chips time to go! Others make a paper chain using them as well by punch holes in the top & stringing them along. Each day let you child cut one down! :cool1:
