Home Rental - Last Minute Discounts

We are now reconsidering our plan to stay onsite because free dining would require us to do a split stay, and consequently we wouldn't get the benefit of a 10 day ticket (best case: 5 park days before FD, another 5 once it starts). So long story short, we're thinking of renting a home. I think I will miss being onsite, but I also think I will LOVE all the extra room.

As I look at the seemingly endless lists of rentals/locations/rates, I have noticed that a lot have last minute discount options. We will be driving; we know what we want, but would settle for slightly less; and we can shift our vacation 1-2 days in either direction. So, as much as I hate not having a plan, it seems like I should just sit on my hands and wait until about 60 days out to make any firm arrangements.

Am I wrong? Thoughts? Suggestions? Perhaps a favorite pool house to fit 6 (2 adults and 4 kids that each want their own bed)???

It looks like your trip is in Jan and if so I don't think there would be a problem if you wait till later to book. Now if your counter is wrong and you're going Christmas then I wouldn't wait.

Yes, we are hoping for arrival on January 2nd or 3rd.

You should be ok- a lot of the christmas guests would be checking out about then -mine leave Jan 3 as will a lot of the UK based ones so they are back in the UK ready for term time.
