We are coming to the end of a major home renovation project. We have had a lot of workman in and out of our house for the past two months but one tile installer really stands out. He has been here almost every day since mid- May.

He has done beautiful work and has really exceeded our expectations as far as cleaning up the work areas each night, leaving us walkways to get around our house, etc... I can't say the same for everyone. My kitchen would be finished but the plumber hasn't shown up for two days.

DH and I were talking today and thinking that we'd like to give the tile guy some type of thank you. I've never been in this position before and wonder if some type of tip would be appropriate and if so what?

We were just in the same situation. Our remodel just finished last week. Our project manager went above and beyond what was expected of him. I got him a nice thank you card and filled it with gift cards. His wife is expecting their first baby, so I put Babies R Us and restaurant gift cards inside. He was very appreciative.

I think it's very nice that you want to show your appreciation!

I think the amount certainly depends on your budget...but at least $100 comes to mind.

We have done a nice thank you card with a gift card to a nice local restaurant.
