Just arrived home today from the 8/28 Magic. We drove to NJ battling the remnants of Frances all the way. I would like to say that I thought DCL did a fantastic job taking care of us during extenuating circumstances and for that I will be eternally grateful!

SeaSpray is writing a wonderful trip report so I'll just list a couple of highlights and if you have any questions, please ask away!

DISers - This great group of people made me feel safe in uncertain times. It was great sharing meals, drinks & stories with all of you and it was wonderful to walk around the ship and see familiar faces wherever we went.

DCL - Very high marks for keeping us safe and entertained and informed!

Magic/Wonder - I second SeaSpray's report on how awesome it was to see the ships in port together!!!

CMs - For always smiling and keeping spirits high even though their own pocketbooks may very well have taken a hit.

Toto, Oppie, John & (Sasha) - An excellent dining room (Palo) team! After our last night and gratuities already given they were just as lively, entertaining and attentive on the next night (our real last night).

Cabin 6110 - Great location, quiet and convenient. Loved the verandah.

REAS - Great massages, gift basket, turndown service & Champagne breakfast in bed. It made for a romantic 20th anniversary celebration, even if two kids were along!

Movies - We saw: The Village, The Notebook, King Arthur, Confession of a Teenage Drama Queen, Princess Diaries 2, Around the World in 80 Days, Raising Helen, Jungle Book 2, Brother Bear & Harry Potter - WOW, lots of movies!

DCL Bus Driver - For taking all of us to our cars at the Radisson when you could have just left us at PC without taxis or shuttles. I am truly, truly grateful! Thanks for going above the call of duty.

We had a really, really great cruise!!!!

If you have any questions, please ask.

Glad you had such a great time. It's nice to see a positive post on the way DCL handled things. :)

Mary Rose, so glad you got home safely if maybe a little later than you planned.

Thanks for posting and so glad you had a great time.

Mary Rose,

Nice report! What a historical cruise for you all.

Was the John you wrote about, a head server, John Cunningham from Scotland? And where abouts in NJ?

We sail on the 25th and are very much looking forward to our return to the Magic. We are also keeping our fingers crossed that the weather calms down enough to get us on the ship on the 25th! And maybe, just maybe with enough pixie dust, we may even get to visit Castaway Cay. Rumor has it that the damage was moderate and may be cleaned up in about a week.

allears - Yes that is John from Scotland the Head Server that I am talking about. Great guy, he and my 11 year old DS spent one evening hanging spoons off their ears, nose & cheeks - it was a riot. BTW we live in Old Bridge, NJ and our kids missed their first day of school today! I hope that the weather does calm down for your 9/25 and I really hope CC has little damage and you'll make it their on your trip. We really love it there!

Mary Rose - glad to see you made it home safe! I think we passed you back in Florida right after we set off. Were you in a line for gas? We were looking for lunch - some places didn't have air conditioning or electric or had very long lines. We finally had a very very limited menu at a McDonalds.

Disney did a excellent job taking care of all of us under such difficult circumstances.

Hi Karel!

So glad you made it home safe & sound. And YES that was us waiting in line for gas! We were glad to find it. We stopped at many an exit and found no gas. That may have been the scariest part of the trip! We couldn't even dream of eating until Georgia, it was around then that I finally started to calm down! That may have been the scariest part of the trip! So great to meet you and your family. When you get a minute post over on our cruise meet page. Everyone is checking in as they get home.

Thanks for the reply. You're the second person from that trip who mentioned John. He is quite a character and our family has been one of his biggest fans since our first 7 night cruise in 2002 when he was our server. In fact we got an e-mail from him today and we were happy to have him confirm that he will still be on the ship on the 25th when we're scheduled to sail. We'll be going right to the dining assignment station when we get on board to make sure we're in his section. My youngest son just doesn't think it's a complete cruise without John. He was our head server on our last cruise in 2003.

We live in Mt Ephraim, just across the bridge from Philly.

Welcome home again and thanks for the info.

For some reason, we decided to fill the tank right before we got the Radisson Friday at that gas station there. We are thankful we did. It was one less thing to worry about!

Karel,

That really was good thinking and something you can be sure I'll remember in the future. There was a moment there where I thought we might have to hitchhike on I-95 and hope a fellow DISer would pick us up! LOL

allears,

Hey, so glad it is "your" John. He sure was alot of fun! Have a great time on your cruise neighbor!
