Lowes - I like Jimmie Johnson :thumbsup2 over Tony Stewart and Home Depot ;)

Avoid both like the plague. In this case I'll gladly pay more at the local hardware store and be able to find people to help. They also seem to have more selection. More it more it seems chains like Lowes have a contract to only carry one brand of the most popular items.

Me too. Our local guys actually came out to my house when I couldn't get a broken piece off our kitchen sink to show them what needed to be replaced. It was a whopping $5 sale. :thumbsup2

Well, I had to pick Lowe's...I work at the corporate office!!
Aside from that, I really do like Lowe's better, it seems cleaner and less warehouse-y.
FYI, we are expanding into Canada. 6 stores in Ontario by third quarter 2007!

I don't think I've ever been in a Lowe's, but mainly because my dad's such a fervent Tony Stewart fan that I'd feel dirty shopping with the competition. :rotfl:

Being a Home Depot employee for that last 4 years, was the best career choice I have ever made.
Naw....not really, I needed night shift and they were hiring :teeth:

:thumbsup2 I vote Lowes! Our local store in Morehead City has the HOTTEST guy working in the doors and windows section :bitelip:  ! Oh wait, that happens to be my DH! He's been with Lowes for 16 years and is a very loyal employee who is very proud of them (and Jimmie Johnson! :car: ).
Buy at Lowes! We have quite a bit of stock in the company- take pity on me and my DVC addiction! :rotfl2:

If I'm looking for parts and supplies I'll go to Home Depot. If I'm looking for appliances and "finished" products I'll go to Lowes.

Home Depot always seems like a place for real do it yourselfers. Lowes always seems like a store to me.

I agree. They are both within a short distance in Vero Beach and, in NH, they are both building new stores in North Conway.

I'll try and help you out Tink! :wave2: :sunny:

I have done a lot of home remodeling over the last several years. I totally tore out my family room, bathroom and entire basement to the bare stud walls which even included rewiring. If you do shop and comparisons you will find some things cost less that the other.

 I look at Home Depot as being more of the construction material store but when it comes down to some lighting, doors and wood trim (baseboards and molding) Lowes has a great decorated selection.

Lowe's, hands down. Every time I have been to Home Depot and asked for help, the employees talk to me like I'm an idiot. No thanks.

I'm glad to hear people like Lowes! We are getting one about 20 min. away. DH got a job as a department specialist and so far he loves it. I was impressed with the one we visited that opened up last year about 30 min. from here in the opposite direction.

WI people, why can't there be any HD or Lowes in WI? Is that because Menards is based out of there in Eau Claire???

We have both here located almost side-by-side. Lowes wins my vote because the people are very helpful, prices are always noted on the shelf, and things are stocked on shelves and organized. Not the case with HD here.

I usually go to home depot. It's closer but aren't they pretty much the same store anywayse!

As a woman I am much more comfortable shopping at Lowes. There is a Home Depot closer to us, but they are not friendly and helpful to me when I ask a question - it is like I am a nuisance to them. I also have owned Lowes stock for many years and it has done well for me!

my friend joked HD was Home Dumpo but her DH is a manager at Lowes.
I like Lowes better but HD is closer. I think HD's prices can be steep.
I miss my local hardware chain that went out of business. :sad1:
