Throwback Thursday to some awesome 1970s style.

We had a hideous floral pattered sofa. With wood arms. Even back then I thought it was tacky.

if you watch the shows on hgtv and magnolia this stuff is in demand for the 'mid century modern vibe':crazy2:

that green shag carpet speaks to me-we had it wall to wall in everything but the kitchen and bathrooms when i was a kid.

We had a mustard yellow vinyl couch. You stuck to it in the summer, even with a sheet covering it. We called it Old Yeller. I still have one of the buttons off of it.

ours was burnt orange. when my mom sold the family home in '83 the new owners inherited a brown oven and harvest gold fridge. dh's family home reflected the popularity of 70's era wall coverings-faux wood paneling, faux brick and some odd textured stuff we never quite figured out-all in the same room :scared:

My mom is a big fan of home decor and in throughout my childhood she always tried to get new furniture for our house. Like my mom has always liked formica tables and chairs and she had always wanted a formica table and chairs for our dining room but they were always expensive but Dad was lucky to find a table and chairs set for Mom after we moved and she is very proud of it. But there are some furniture that looks nice but seems quite weird. Like I can never understand why beds have a soft headboard now and I cannot figure out when soft headboards for bedroom decor started to become in style now? I remember when some beds had headboards that were bookshelves where you could put your books and you could read in bed easily. I first saw this type of headboard because my aunt had one of these in her bedroom and hers was part of a bedroom set that came with a vanity set too and I thought headboards that were bookshelves were cool. But one piece of home decor I thought was pretty that I always wanted was a princess bed and I thought they looked marvelous with the privacy curtains and they just looked pretty but I ended up with a regular bed but I got a new mattress a year ago and it's so nice

Yup, my great-grandparents did, except their's was a rather large sectional. It was basically that pattern though, and that velvety material that you could "draw" on by rubbing the fibers the opposite way.
LOL, for myself it was my aunt who had that couch.

Slightly off topic, but I watched the movie The Post weeks ago, and noticed a very familiar 70's-80's Rubbermaid pitcher that we used constantly! Any of you have this? Came in various colors.

I've got that pitcher in blue. :)

I love the carousel horse on the wall behind the sofa in the ad. LOL!

Soft headboards make sense - if you accidentally move your head too far up in the bed while you're asleep, you wouldn't wake yourself up!
