Are these hard to reserve if you are not a DVC member? We are thinking of staying onsite for 1st time in Apr/May 2008. These villas seem comparable to where we usually stay offsite at timeshare/condo type with 2 bedrooms/ common room/fully equipped kitchen etc.... Is there a reason people book a regular room instead of a 'villa'? It just seems more spacious to stay a week with a family of four. The price doesn't seem that much more than a deluxe resort room per night. Can you enlighten since we've never stayed onsite before? Which is the best?

Most are not hard to reserve, as long as you do it well in advance (as with many rooms onsite).

If it were me, I'd definitely stay on-site in the "home away from home" DVC suites rather than off-site. Being in the magic 24/7 and having the ease of Disney transportation is wonderful. :goodvibes

But then, I'm biased since I'm a DVC member. ;)

Which is why so many of us buy into the program. You must decide what is most desireable for you and your family and go for that. Yes the DVC rooms are more desirable if you are looking for the "home" family comforts. :thumbsup2

Home Away from Home is an outdated term now. They are just referred to as DVC resorts. You can make a reservation for most DVC villas directly through Disney. There are a few categories not available to non-points stays. These include, Standard view at BWV, BW view at BWV, dedicated two bedroom villas at BCV with two queen beds in the second bedroom. Grand Villas are extremely difficult for non-members to reserve.

Enjoy your stay at a DVC resort!!
