Holy toledo!

We've had really strong winds today and it caused part of our stockade fence in the backyard to fall over.

Granted, it would've fallen over eventually because (as we learned today)the post supporting that particular section was rotted at the very base (which was in the ground). But the wind caused the post to snap at the rotted portion, which took a section of fence with it.

Right now it's being supported on either side with 2X4's until the wind calms down and DH can fix it.

All day, because of the dust storms the sky had a weird, orange-red tint to it from all the dust being blown up from Oklahoma.

Part of our picket fence is still propped up with a 2x4, it started leaning when our yard flooded repeatedly in the hurricane epidemic here a couple of years ago.

My car also still bears the scars of scraping against the same fence when trying to avoid the deep puddles in our driveway.

No rain as of yet..just a heckuva lotta wind. One of the houses across from us lost a buttload (how much IS a buttload anyway? ) of shingles. We saw the owner up there late this afternoon trying to nail the ones he was able to salvage back down.

Ugh! I hope you don't have to go through that. Storms can be a big pain in the rear, I really have a hate for them.

I can't ever remember having had dust/wind storms this bad. Uck.

And of course, DS wants to be out in it because he thinks feeling the wind on his face is the funniest thing ever.
