Just returned from a mini day trip to Epcot and the Fort. As much as it hurt to cancel the 3 day camping trip Monday, it was the right thing to do (for me). The Fort is wet and getting wetter. It would have been the 3rd straight trip with lengthy rain days. Ugh, enough already. But I wanted to get my BGC.
So I settled for a short day trip and got a semi Fort Fix and my BGC today.
First of all, you'll get wet, but you can do most everything you do doing sunny days.
Here's a mini Trip report. Arrived at 8:30 after a long, long trip....OK it only took a little over a hour. Gotta love SR429. Many folks were out and about, but not the crowds people have been encountering.
Just missed the bus to Epcot, so checked out the golf carts. I wonder if this is one of Kenny's. Can you tell the WDW cart vs. the other?
Only a few folks were on the bus to Epcot when it's normally packed. Headed for the Will Call window to get my BGC. In the park at 9 am sharp and it's drizzling, but not a downpour. Checked out the butterfly garden, but they don't like the rain, so no butterflys. The bright colors of the flowers will cheer up any day though.
Hey, what timing, here's the monorail.
Ventured into World Showcase, but very quiet as it's not open yet and it's raining harder. So walked some of the minor routes back toward the golf ball. Ahhh, look at the dad trying to keep his kid outta of the puddles.
Beautiful colors everywhere.
OK, even with jacket and poncho, I'm getting drenched and having a hard time finding a dry spot for the camera, so time to head for the Fort.
Waited for one last shot and........got it.
It took 35 minutes for the bus to come, but it was nice to just relax and people watch. Headed to the Meadows Trading Post to buy a Fort Wilderness licence plate, but was told that they were out but the Settlement had some. So I figured I'd walk so I could checkout the new 600 loop. There were quite a few empty spots in the loop. The new sites back right up to the water. I wouldn't want these sites if I had little ones, way too tempting and too close to the water. But, if you like to fish, we are talking awesome. Think we should call them the Born2fish sites.
Headed over to 300 loop as I think someone wanted to see a pic of site 351 here you go.
Good thing it wasn't 361, this site was heavily guarded.
Found someone REALLY THRILLED with all the rain.
Rain is really picking up now. Hats off to the folks who didn't cancel their plans. Great day for popcorn and a good movie at the site. One thing about the rainy nights, that has got to be the best sleeping weather in the world.
Got to the Settlement where the 2 CM's were very pleasant. One lady made a phone call and Goofy sang Happy Birthday to me, that was a first.
Got my license plate. It's OK, but like the retro items here on the forum. They are so much better. Then the lady who made the phone call gave me a really nice pin and said it was a BDay present from the 2 CM's. Made my day.
Waiting at the bus depot to catch one up to the Outpost and head home.
Puddles, puddles, puddles, did I mention it was raining.
This was a really nice mini trip. Hope you all enjoyed it.
