I know this is OT but I just have to vent. First we've had all of the crazy stress with DH's Grandma (who is doing quite well, thank goodness), and then I've been sick for a week and now have completely lost my voice (as in total laryngitis) and now, I've blown out my knee!

I was walking out to the car this morning when my boot slipped on a slick patch on the driveway. I fell right on my knee which is now twice its normal size and hurting like crazy. The doctor doesn't think anything is broken but he won't say for sure until the radiologist reads the x-rays but he is pretty sure that I twisted the ligament. I'm in bed at the moment with a giant wrapped knee and an ice pack, my trusty laptop and a pile of Disney movies. The saddest part of the whole thing is that DH and I were supposed to be at Disneyland this weekend but we had to cancel the trip because of all the stuff with Grandma.

I am feeling supremely sorry for myself at the moment. At least I have Darvocet to help with the pain. :sad1:

I am so sorry Shauna. I hope things get better for you and that your knee is not badly hurt (I know it feels bad and looks bad) but I hope it is not serious.

I'm so sorry Shauna... That is just awful.. just keep the covers on and the movies going and let DH take care of you this weekend...and start over next week... with a little hobble but maybe the rest is what your body needs...

:wizard: That sucks! I hope you have a speedy recovery!

I am glad Grandma is doing well!:thumbsup2

I'm glad your Grandma is doing well.

You need the rest and I bet you weren't going to do it on your own, were you?

Now you don't get a choice. Rest, rest and rest!

When it rains, it pours. Hope your knee feels better soon, but in the meantime, as AWM said - take the time to rest!

Thanks ladies!

Yes, AWM, you are right that I was not resting on my own. Now I really have no choice because I HATE crutches and I can't walk without them.

I'm going to rest and work on some swappy stuff since I literally can't do anything else.

Every cloud has a silver lining! ;) Your December page total will be amazing :thumbsup2

Bummer Shauna, hope you are feeling better soon. Happy to hear your grandma is doing better.

Now, tell DH to make you some hot cocoa, popcorn and get all snuggly with a movie and enjoy some quiet time together, you deserve it.

 :wizard: :goodvibes being sent your way!

Lisa

shauna hope your knee is feeling better. and glad to hear grandma is feeling better. enjoy the down time. sometimes it's just want the body needs.

Waaah! I work for a large grocery store chain in Northern California. I work in the training department which is located above one of the stores so no elevator. Well, I still can't bend my knee and the doctor said absolutely no stairs. I told my boss that and her response is that I just have to take time off until I can climb stairs. Even though the building is not ADA compliant, they don't have to provide accommodation for me since it is not a permanent disability so I have to use sick time/vacation time (charged against next year's allotment) for the week that it will take my knee to heal. In the meantime, the swelling has still not gone down and my knee is about 10 different colors.

Is it 2008 yet? I'm ready for this year to be over. :sad2:

Shauna~ what a bummer - BUT I say take a deep breath and then just RELAX and let that darn knee heal while you are actually taking a break :thumbsup2

That is crummy that you have to "delve" into your 2008 time - umph - bosses - they just don't get it sometimes

Take care and let us know the progress of the "colors" - I've always heard that "yellow" means it is getting close to the recovery stage:rolleyes1

Thanks. I thought the same thing about yellow but the doctor told me that is actually the reverse. Deep yellow means that the bruise is super deep. Then it goes through black, purple, reddish brown and then back to a light yellow. The bruised area is about the size of a large cantaloupe and I have about three different colors going right now with the bulk of the area a deep saffron yellow color.

I guess I should enjoy my enforced vacation. Heaven knows my vacations are usually go, go, go. I can't remember the last time I sat and did so little. Even when I'm at home "resting", I'm still doing laundry, cleaning, cooking, etc. I can't do any of that right now so I guess I really will be rested. If I rest much more though, this is going to be me - :upsidedow !

Sorry this is such a hard time for forced relaxation. I hope it heals quickly!:wizard:

Thanks! Tell me about it! It's not like I have bell choir practice, shopping, Girl Scout activities, two cookie exchanges and three holiday parties in the next two weeks.

I always did have impeccable timing!:scared:

I think its appalling youor bosses making you use holiday when you're injured! Is there any work you caan do from home to cover some of it? I'm not suggestg cashiers trooping over to you for till training ;) but could you review any training manuals or something?
