Good grief! I'm going to have to take out a small loan to pay for a rental for our Feb. vacation!! The best price I've found so far on National, Alamo, or Budget is $350 base for 7 days for an Intermediate size. I have never paid that much in the past! I hope the prices go down after the first of the year....we may be walking from the airport!! :earseek:

but in April. I managed to get a 3 day rental w/ National for 2/3-2/6 for just around $65 using the National coupon in the Entertainment book. I thought that was great. Now April, that's another story. Almost $400 for an intermediate for the week.

Are you trying codes and coupons?

My quote from National using the best codes and coupon combination I can find is still $100 more than last year for the same dates and same amount of days! Good Grief! :faint:

 hi-
I got an awesome rate for February with Thrifty, but I reserved it online back in October. Im actually keeping my midsized for 8 day for $182.99 including taxes and fees. Try there rates. Dollar was the next cheapest at $190.06.
Good luck :wave2:

Yep...that was with coupon codes, contract ID's, etc. It doesn't seem like too many codes are out there yet for after 12/31/05. I'll just keep looking....in the past, I've gotten some good deals at the last minute. I've relied on National mostly due to the fact we can bypass the counter, but if I can come up with a lower price with another company, I'm all for it.

Good luck everyone!

What dates are you looking for? If it's Pres Week, don't expect them to come down too much. Last year at that time they were running out of cars.

I'm lucky this year, I started looking early and got some decent rates. Right now I'm sticking with an SUV from Alamo for $157. Last year at this time I paid $188 for a full size at Budget and that was the cheapest so I'm pretty happy with my rate this year.

Not President's week, but it is over school vacation week (2/27 to 3/7). I guess I'll just keep checking all the different sites until I run out of time.

dollar.com and thrifty.com seem the cheapest for what I was looking for (Full-size or Mini Van). I've ended up with Feb 3 to 17th in a mini-van for $535 (all fees and taxes incl).

Keep in mind, I am picking it up at TPA and dropping off at MCO and the airport service fee is drastically higher in Tampa. Had I picked it up in MCO, the rate would have dropped below $500.

Mousesavers.com has some great discount codes you can fiddle with.

If you can use Magical Express the prices are cheaper to rent at the swan/dolphin thru national.

We have 13 days for 281.00 intermediate. thats with the ent coupon and priceless codes. This is during presidents week and the price to pickup at the airport was over 500.00

I just booked the same February vacation dates at thrifty.com and got $123 for 8 days...full size car.
