I just got a call from Geico. My car is at the auto-body shop and he is heading over there to look at it. Oh, I probably should mention that this is the car that was stolen on May 4th 2008! My chin hit the floor when he called.

What are the odds that my leather coats, Ipod, GPS, Nintendo DS, etc are still in there?

Holy cow, that's been a while.

And I give your changes - slim to none.

Did someone call the police?

Why is it in the body shop? The thief, wanted to get those little dings that you put in it taken out.

Guess you're not bored anymore! ;)

Did you get some kind of insurance settlement?

I have no details other than its at a body shop in town. The adjuster is going to call me with more information.

harley, yes I was paid a settlement back in July. Geico owns the car now. Its theirs to do with as they wish. It would be great if there was some of my stuff left in it.

Actually I'm not sure its an auto body shop. It could be a towing place and the car might have been sitting parked (or whatever) illegally for all this time, and was finally towed, and nothing was touched at all. (Hey , one can hope, can't they?)

Since they paid you out, will you get your stuff back?

Having been robbed at gunpoint and burgalized myself, I am so HOPING you get something back. (I didn't).

My car was stolen when I lived in Orlando and recovered 6 months to the day later. I had been paid by my insurance company for 2 claims - 1 for the vehicle and 1 for the contents (from my homeowners policy). The police called me and I was allowed to go see the vehicle and take any items that were mine that were left in the car (most of the pricey stuff that insurance paid for was long gone). The thiefs also took a bunch of mix tapes that were sentimental to me but I was able to get a sweater, keys to my sister's house and a few other misc... items.

The car was in GREAT shape - they even washed and waxed it! :lmao: The only thing wrong with the car was the busted out steering column where they hotwired it.

If there is anyting of mine still in the car the adjuster told me that I can come get it. I'm hoping my WDW plate was still on the back plates. I doubt it will be there or anything else for that matter.

Hopefully they can fingerprint and get an arrest out of it if they haven't already. These darned privacy laws in MD prevent them from telling me any thing about my case since its still open. Grrrr!!!!! :sad2:

Handbag, I felt violated by just having my car stolen in the middle of the night. I can't imagine how you must have felt/feel.

oh yeah, I guess that makes sense. You know, sitting here reading this, I have never known anyone who has had a car stolen.

Adjuster called...car had been sititng on a street for a few months and it was towed from there to the auto shop. Strange! Anyway, the sun roof was tore out, steering column tore out, only damange is on the inside. He said that there is NO damage on the outisde. lol Also, there were no personel effects left behind. Photos will be posted on my claims page later. I'll have to post some when they're there. I am still in shock. It has been 8 months!

I went and visited my car last night. The outside looks great! The inside, not so much. The steering column is busted, the stereo removed from the dash, sunroof pryed open which allowed the interior to be flooded. I did get my WVU sweatshirt from the car though. Yay!

I also got a CD case from it that wasn't mine! I'm assuming it was the culprit's so I'm taking it to the police station today so they can fingerprint it or something. I have no idea if they have made an arrest or not.
