We've drove to St. Louis this week to have Thanksgiving with my family (23 of us). We ranged from 1 year old to 66. The only one missing was my 22 year old nephew who is in Iraq.
My nephew Adam, whom I've asked for prayer alot for, looks so good. He is living on half a heart, but you'd never know by his energy. His parents were told that he'd have less energy and give out earlier than most two year olds, but that hasn't happened yet. He's such a miracle to see.
We played Pinochle till 2:00 a.m. most nights, played Trivial Pursuit, talked, laughed, cried, and generally had a great time.
The best part was my daughter getting engaged! She lives in Topeka. She called me Sunday and said she and Matt were taking a tour of the capital building, and might be able to go all the way to the top. They had to get a special escort. She wasn't very excited to tour the capital, but Matt was excited, so she went with a good attitude. When they got to the top, she asked if they could see Matt's dad's office from there, as he works just across the street. Matt had binoculars, and had her look. She saw huge signs in the windows across from her that read, "Sarah, will you marry me." She said she was speechless. She had no idea that this was what the "tour" was about. She then turned and he was on one knee.
She called me just after, but we were on our way to Topeka, somewhere in western Kansas, and my phone had no service, so she left a message saying to call her as soon as possible, but it was not an emergency. I called her and left her a message once my phone was back in service. She called me back and told me, I cried, of course. Her dad knew all along what was going on because Matt had called him last Thursday to ask for her hand. He did not tell me because he figured I might give it away with excitement in my voice, and he's probably right. I thought it was a very romantic engagement. Every time she retold her story this weekend, my sisters cried.
Anyway, this weekend reminded me of all the things I should be Thankful for. Just wanted to share a bit of happiness with my closest e-friends.
Now it's time to start planning this wedding.

Congrats to Sarah and Matt.
Only about 2.5 hours to Topeka
