Thanks to all who helped by giving their advice regarding selling my small DVC contract. (The thread has been deleted by because I gave too much info.) I decided to post it with one the brokers that specializes in DVC and had a an offer, at list price, within 2 hours. I can hardly believe it! :cool1: I know I couldn't have done that well on my own.

We LOVE being DVC members but having two contracts to manage just isn't for us.

was that the 30 pt'er? Congrats :)!

I can't answer that. When I answered that question in my last thread I was given an infraction of 10 points. :rotfl: I'm not even sure what that means. But, thank you! I am super excited.

Wow! That WAS fast.
Hope you got enough to justify the 10% commission.

Congratulations on a quick and successful sale!

wow!!! :) I don't think I know the rules well enough to know why that is an infraction (maybe it is read as a solicitation?) but I am quite excited you were able to sell them! It is encouraging to me since we are buying but paid the extra nominal closing costs to split our points 3 ways for 50/30/30, hoping to maximize our escape clause should we need it--or give it to our kids if they desperately want to acquire a nominal amount of a timeshare and it's associated fees.

one more thing-- I bet you can post your details in the ROFR thread now that the deal is done-- am I wrong?

I could, not sure if they would be interested in the details since it seems the purpose of that board is to track how low prices can go and still pass ROFR. The broker I worked with said this is the highest per point sale they have ever had. If you want to know the details send me a PM, I'd be happy to share. :)

You can post in the thread if you would like to share it..it's really about sharing details of a sale..I did so when I sold a contract a few years back..

Congratulations on the quick sale!

The DIS doesn't allow "For Sale" posts of any kind That would include any posts that have enough detail to be construed as a "For Sale" post (even though many times that is not the intent of the poster).

But as Sandi posted, you can post details of the actual sale if you are comfortable doing so.

Congratulations! Two hours WAS fast!

Great, thanks for clarifying.

32 points at BLT, June UY for $120 per point. Buyer (me) pays ROFR/estopel (?) fee and broker commission. Seller pays closing.

We had the same experience. We sold 2 contracts recently (still have 450 points). The first offer came almost immediately after we listed. The second came the next day. It is hard to part with these contracts - BCV - but we just don't see going to Disney quite as much as we used to. Frankly, tickets and food are so expensive that it is sort of a turn-off.

Also, this year we went to Fort Wilderness in our RV. NO - IT IS NOT AS GREAT AS THE BCV. But it was VERY ENJOYABLE! We loved having the golf cart to scoot around in and loved taking the boat over to MK. July 4th at FW was truly magical - music, games, dancing, fireworks.

I bought 25 AKL fully loaded Dec Uy for $85 a point last Jan 2012. Sold it stripped in 2 hour in June for $100 a point.

Stripped in a 25 point contract is not that much money. You're talking about your buyer paying only $375 more than you did (or really, not even). If it was an add on, my guess is they weren't in a hurry to use those extra 25 points yet anyway, so they actually saved the $141.75 that you had to pay in the 2013 UY (assuming, since you said it was stripped). The difference is $233.... not bad at all considering what an add on retail would cost, and not much of a gain considering one rooms rental is higher than that. Now had this been a larger contract, I'd say you REALLY made out well.

Had you stripped out the 2014 points too, that'd change the equation a bit.... I dunno. It seems stripped is not a universal statement. I would say it is when you use points on which you have not, or will not pay the maintenance fees... otherwise it's just a contract with points, just like those a buyer can obtain from direct purchase.

The seller that recently posted a resale at $120 and got it in less than an hour had some bragging rights!! More points too!
