I'll be tagging along with DH on a business trip. The day of our arrival is our only day together so we are spending it sightseeing and exploring the Newport Beach area. The next day, Tuesday January 31, I will be on my own in DL.

I have never been to DisneyLand and I want to get as much as possible out of my day. Here are my must-do attractions:

Matterhorn
Star Tours
Indiana Jones
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain
Pirates of the Caribbean
Honey I Shrunk the Audience

I also want to do as many minor attractions as possible, especially the ones that aren't in WDW.

Do you have any suggestions for a touring plan? I will be at the park from opening till closing, which I think is 8:00 pm.

Thanks for any help you can give!

We will be there that day also. My advice from experience last year is to be there when the parks open, have a game plan, include fast passes in your plan. By doing this you can hit the highlights, and must rides first thing, and the relax and enjoy the rest of the park. :cool1:

As a general planI would head to Fantasyland on opening, ride Alice and Mr Toad and Pinnocchio since they are all unique, then go onto Matterhorn as it does not have FP. Go back to FL if anything else catches your eye, if not you can back track to Adventureland and grab FP for Indy, ride pirates, HM, jungle cruise or visit Tiki room (Original show if that appeals) ride Indy. Then get FP for Space ride all of the Tomorrowland rides, lastly i would pick up a FP for Splash since it is wet and I like to save it for last ! While you wait for Splash you can queue up for BTMRR which is great at dusk.

Sounds like great advice. Thanks! I can't wait! :hyper:

I will be there jus before you get there, 1 word of advice 'Wear Comfortable shoes". Plus take in all the sights and sounds while your there and enjoy your time in Walts Original Park.

Plus they have single rider option available on Splash Mountain, Just ask at the entrance to Splash mountain.

Hope you have a magical trip.

AAA gives us unlimited fp at disneyland. If you are a member of AAA, see if you can get this. It will be a big help.

How/where do you get this? I just sent in my AAA membership application so I don't have the actual card yet but should have it before the trip.

you should try to call AAA at (888-937-5521). after reading another thread it sounds like you might have to stay 1 night at a disney hotel to get this.

but if you are going on Jan. 31, I don't think you will need any fp. The park shouldn't be very crowded.

First of all, I confess that I, Deny DeRosier am a planning junkie, so let the buyer beware.

So here goes:

Before you leave: Call for a PS (reservation) at the Blue Bayou for lunch. About 12:45 should be the right time. The scheduled hours for MK that day are 10am to 8pm, so you'll have to boogie to get it all done.

First grab breakfast outside the parks, there are alot of locations nearby that offer a big meal for a small price. Plan on getting to the restaurant about 8am. It should take about an hour to eat and get to the front gate. Normally the park opens about 60 minutes before the scheduled time, so you'll be able to wander Main Street for about 30 minutes before the rope drops. Don't buy anything you'll have to carry for the full day.

When the rope drops head for Space Mountain, grab a fast pass, then back to the Matterhorn for your first ride of the day. After that loop back around the mountain for Star Tours & Buzz Lightyear before heading back to the hub. Now it's over to Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain before heading to Adventureland for a Jungle Cruise and a visit to Pirates. You should be exiting Pirates just in time for your PS at Blue Bayou. Everyone raves about the Monte Cristo so give it a try. After lunch head over to Indiana Jones to get a FP, then wander through Fantasyland picking any of the rides with short lines. Storybook boats, Alice and Peter Pan are my favorites. Now over to Honey I Shrunk the Audience to let your tummy settle before Space Mountain. Then over to Small World for a nice little ride, then jump on the train for ride to New Orleans Square. Your FP for Indiana Jones should be active by now, so hop on. At this point your checklist is complete and it should be about 5pm. I'll add a couple of my favorites to round out your day. First off check out if the Disney Gallery (above Pirates) is open, it's a hidden treasure for Disney fans. The head over to the Tiki Room and get a Dole Whip to enjoy while watching the Birdies. Now it's decision time. If you want to watch the Parade (which I reccommend) then wander up Main Street to Opera House for the Magical 50th Year film (where Abe used to be). Then grab a spot on the curb to watch the parade. If you're not a parade person head over to Fantasyland to ride some of those you skipped before. The lines should be shorter as most people head for the parade, then exit. One thing you might try, is find out which way the parade is running. If it's from Main Street to Small World, you might be able to catch a couple of Fantasyland rides before going over next to the Teacups to watch the parade from there.

If you've got any energy left, it's shopping time as you head out via Main Street. Whether you're buying or not the glass shop has some amazing stuff. So now it's either back to the hotel to collapse or meet your hubby in Downtown Disney for dinner. Rainforrest Cafe (loud & jungle themed), ESPN Zone (sports themed) or Catal (for a quiet meal) are all excellent. I'd skip the House of Blues that night (a concert is scheduled). If you feel up to a special dinner, there's the Napa Rose in the Grand Californian. It's a 5 star restaurant that allows casual wear. Not cheap, but if hubby likes wine, it'll be his reward for letting you play for the day.

I'm sure glad that this was a short day. If you'd have picked a longer day I would have had to figure some way to get DCA on to the schedule.

Thanks for you patience as I know this was a little long.

Edit: I just noticed the potential of unlimited FP. I set this up using the normal FP schedule.

WOW denyd, that was awesome! Sounds like a great way to get a lot done. The only thing I'll probably not do is the lunch at BB. I know its supposed to be great and I'm sure it is but I'm just more of a lunch-on-the-fly kind of girl when I'm on my own. Thanks so much for thinking this through for me! :teeth:

OK, if it's lunch on the go consider either the Bengal Barbeque (chicken or beef kabobs), the Royal Street Veranda (Gumbo) or the Golden Horshoe for a show with lunch.

I hope you have a great time. I sometimes miss the freedom to wander the park and have to skip certain rides until look at my smiling 4yo DS and then everything's wonderful again.

LOL - I'm sure I'll be seeing lots of smiling 4 year olds and wishing my 14 and 18 year olds were that age again! Enjoy it now; it goes by way too fast... :sad1:

Thanks again for all the advice!

Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Golden Horseshoe is a great way to spend lunch. Quick counter service burgers and such with a very funny stage show by great musicians. Just don't sit next to the stage if you don't want to be part of the show.
