This is my first dvc reservation. I wanted to stay at the BWV, but since there were rooms available for some of the days ,I ended with a reservation that goes like this

DAY 1 -BCV
DAY2-4 BWV
DAy 5-7 SS

from what have done already, it seems i have to keep calling back to find out if there is more room available at the BWV for the other days. The original reservation was for 1 night at the BC and the rest of the week at SS because nothing was available at the bWV

Is this normal? Has anyone ever done this? You should know the vaca is for 7/8-7/14/06 so it was pretty short notice.

I think your problem is the short, short notice. Rooms not reserved by members are turned over to CRO for cash reservations at 60 days. I hope something opens up for you at BWV for day #1, moving twice in a 7 day stay, while normal for some folks, is too much for me.

DVC really works best when you can plan and book several months in advance. At this point, you are lucky there was any availability anywhere.

One other question, if something comes up as available in the CRO, does that mean it is available fpr the DVC'er also, through points?

No, CRO and DVC inventories are different. If a DVC room was turned over to CRO simply because it was unreserved MS can sometimes call that room back. However, if a DVC room was turned over to CRO because a member trade out/exchange then it will remain a cash room as DVC needs to recoup $$$ to pay for the exchange. Also Disney controls a small percentage of DVC rooms and any unsold points.

No, CRO Cash Ressies and DVC Point ressies are different inventories.

I would say your results are very normal for a last minute ressie. For member homecoming, I know someone that had to move everyday.

Keep in mind, with availability that tight, most likely your rooms will not be available early.

I know this is your first ressie, so this will be a good trial to see how you like moving around and will help you with future ressies. I personally would move as little as possible and preferably, not at all, but its best to have the experience for yourself.

Have a great trip and here's extra pixie dust :wizard:

No comments about the reservation itself but wanted to tell you your title made me giggle :lmao: Thanks for the smile! :teeth:

Agreed on your Title!!! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 Awesome!

Don't give up on points. In the future, book a little further out! Good luck!

Since you're more than 7 days out, I assume you are waitlisted with MS for (at least) day 1 at BWV??? You shouldn't have to call MS every day---they will call you (or automatically switch you if you choose that option) if the w/l comes through. Your trip is soon, but you never know. At 7 days out, all bets are off and you have to call MS to continue on the waitlist. Good luck! :sunny: In the least, you will get to see a lot of what DVC has to offer in those few days. Plus, access to 2 whole days at SAB--that alone might be worth the inconvenience of moving.

Think of it this way, your family won't be bored. You may enjoy the change. Like the others said you can really get a good idea what each resort is about. Loved the title ! :thumbsup2 Good luck!

In case you did not know, Disney will move your luggage for you when you switch resorts. Just call bell services, and they will come and tag your bags. When you check into the next resort, simply call bell services and they will deliver the bags right to your room. Plan to visit a park on the day of your move, and you will not be inconvenienced at all.

Disney makes moving between resorts so easy. :sunny:

I found this thread using a Google search, so please excuse my interloping :)

We will also be moving twice during our upcoming stay (December) becuase we needed extra nights on the front and end of the original reservation to accomodate our air reservation, and decided to spend the first and last nights in a value resort to save a few $$$. I knew that luggage transfer was available, but I am wondering how the moves will effect such issues as our dining plan and park tickets.

Should I make the first and last night's reservations separately, so that my dining plan and park admissions will be on the main reservation only, or should I add the two nights to the existing reservation (thus adding two additional dining plan credits)? I really don't mind paying for the extra dining plan credits, a use we could certianly find a use for them, but I don't want to run the risk of messing up the plan or my park admissions. Will I get a new ID at each resort? And if so, will the DDP and park admissions transfer from one ID to the next?

After posting I realized that this is in the DVC thread. Yes, I know that I am totally clueless :sad2:  I can post the question in another thread if that is more appropriate.

Thanks.

Keep Trying --- I had a messed up reservation a couple years back for a few nights at OKW 1 BR then another couple nights at a standard BWV view 1 BR.

I kept calling every day - and then magically 2 days before our trip I got our entire trip at a 1BR PREFERRED BWV room - During F&W!

The conversation went something like this:

Me: I was hoping I could find a 1 BR at BWV for my entire trip.
MS: Let me see....Sorry there is nothing available.
Me: Rats. Hmmm....anything else?
MS: Hold on a bit - Let me check something.
Then I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes...
MS: OK, I got a 1 BR at BWV Preferred view.
Me: Really? OK - I'll take it!

Hello Friend ;)

At the value resorts you'd need to book at MYW package to get the dining plan. I'm pretty sure that it requires a minimum of 3 nights, so I'd think you would want to add it to the same reservation. I'm not sure how that works though.

Funny meeting you here :)

As our main reservation is for five nights, I assume they would add on the DDP to the bookend stays at a value resort. The main reason we want to stay at the value resort is that these will be weekend nights, and the rates at GF are much higher on weekends.

And to those to everyone at DIS, I will try to get my post in the right forum next time :thumbsup2
