I have an interview with Mike Holmes on Wednesday, from Holmes on Homes.

Being n IT person, I know absolutely nothing about the guy or his shows. I can't nail up a picture on my wall.

Is this guy seem legit (I assume so)? Any advice would be great, as any tidbits may help in my interview.

His shows are on all the time. I couldn't vouch for him personally or anything, but his shows are very popular and if he wasn't legit I am sure it would be known.

On TV he really explains what the problems are, and how to fix them.

One of the contractors we used to do some work at our church has been on the show. He said Mike was very genuine. He did say that they had to stop allowing Mike go an get supplies because he would be mobbed in stores by people wanting to talk to him.

An interview to be employed by him or to have him work on your house?
I might give a small body part to have him work on my house. LOL I love his thoroughness and he seems to really know what he is talking about. He doesn't cut corners. I can't begin to imagine the horrors behind my 100+ year old walls. Heck! We still have knob and tube electricity.

I'm being interviewed to work for him (on his web site etc.). I think he'd have a heart attack if he ever saw the hatchet jobs I've done "fixing" things in my house.

I wish you oodles of good luck for the interview pixiedust: and if you get the job, I think Mike would be a great boss to work for ;)

(ps.... I read your recent post about taking your kids to WDW and was touched by their comments when they saw Wishes  )

I would love to have him & his crew work on our house.

Good luck with your interview! :goodvibes

I believe Mike Holmes is somehow affiliated with Home Depot--you might want to check out their website to verify.

He came to yk last month for the north of 60 construction conference. He made time to go to the schools and it sounds like he promoted apprenticeship programs and such. The local media really played up his outreach.

I absolutely love Mike Holmes! If he is only half as sincere as he appears on tv, he's a winner! I think if you just be yourself for the interview, that will be fine. Mike seems to appreciate honesty above all else. Good luck!

I've met him a few times....very nice guy. He is friends with a friend of mine. I told him...or rather 'thanked' him for making me terrified to hire anyone to work on my house. I watch his show almost every night. Amazing that I can watch the same show over and over again.

I really do love his show, and think he is pretty cool.

I "met" him in Pearson once. I was walking to my gate and passed him. I just said "Hi Mike!" as he passed me by. He said "Hey, how are you doing?" as he passed by. I was pretty excited, but my work colleague was mortified that I spoke to him, and he didn't even know WHO mike was!

I would LOVE to work for him! Good luck! :goodvibes

he seems like a very down to earth guy and he has done alot for sos childrens villages, I now sponsor a little boy thanks to him , never heard about this organization till I watched his show. hope you land the job Im sure it would be very interesting work:woohoo:

He seems nice. I met him once when he was fixing a house near mine for the TV show. He actually took time to pose for pictures with us.

There is actually a Mike Holmes "Homes on Holmes" magazine now! I dont know how much of it is just regurgitated tv show stuff or if it could help you at all but just throwing it out there to you-best of luck, hope you get the job!
