We will be traveling to California in July and doing disneyland and we have three other days we will be using to tour Hollywood, Beaches Etc etc. would it be possible in a day to do the walk of fame, tar pits and observatory and maybe Ripleys? My kids will be 5 & 6 so I know a lot of the stuff might not interest them but its mostly for mom and dad :lmao: I would also LOVE to go visit the cemetery where Paul Walker was laid to rest and Marilyn Monroe other things on my list is Santa Monica pier New Port beach and eat at an in and out burger so what would be the best plan of action to do on what days? it wouldn't be back to back days and the cemetary things would mainly be for me because DH and kids won't care about that so If I could just find their spots and go that wouldn't take long but to minimize driving time and all that whats the best plan!!?? Thanks in advance

We did a similar trip last summer. We spent 4 days at DLR then moved to Hollywood. We spent 3 days in Lowe's Hollywood. It was nice. We could see the Hollywood sign from our room. We were able to walk to the Hollywood Museum, walk of fame, Ripley's, wax museum, Disney ice cream shop. We used the LA Go card and found it to be a good value for all we did. The only issue we had was Hollywood Blvd was very crowded with "characters" and really freaked my DS10 out. He did not like all the strange people coming up to us asking to take pictures. We knew to say no and keep moving, but it really bothered him. He requested this year we stay away from that area so we are staying near Universal Hollywood.

I just spent this past weekend with two DISers who were staying at the the Loew's Hotel. One afternoon, they took the Metro to Union Station to look around and take pictures, and then I picked them up, we drove past Olvera Street, Downtown LA, and the La Brea Tarpits, to Farmers Market/the Grove. The next day we went to Hollywood Bowl, Griffith Park Observatory, showed them the Hollywood Tower and the Crossroads (that are at the parks - California Adventure & Disney Hollywood Studios), and then we drove down Sunset Blvd. to the ocean, and visited Santa Monica Pier.

Although the Santa Monica Pier is interesting, and is the end of Route 66, there really aren't any good local places to grab a bite, and for next time, I'll plan a better place to eat.

One thing I realized - you need to take LA traffic into consideration when planning on the places to visit, and kind of plan ahead on the places you want to go.

I have an app on my phone called Field Trip, and have it set so it starts talking about places nearby (drives my daughter crazy). I found it to be interesting.
