I made ADR for this so I could get the Fantasmic package. Has anyone eaten here? How is it? Dh is scared it will be bad and we paid all that $$ for it. I maen we have to eat anyway.

We did the exact same thing for the Fantasmic package. It is a BUFFET!

The food is pretty good and plenty of it. I found it to be helter skelter. It was VERRRRY loud the evening we were there. The desserts were great. Our server was very nice and we had her running for sodas/coffee/tea the whole time.

That being said, my DS went to WDW after us and they all ate at BROWN DERBY for the package and said it was fabulous.....sooo....

We ended up getting great seats for the show, without the worry of a long line so getting the package is the deal.

I do not think I will go back to H&V, I will def try Brown Derby next time!

We went to H&V and HATED IT! We thought the food was horrible and the service was pretty bad too. It's one of the worst meals we've ever had at WDW (it even rivals our experience at Tonys!).

The meats were barely room temperature, and bland. The service was also barely mediocre.

Anyway, I would not recommend it! I haven't been to MM, but I would think it would have to be better. I have, however, dined at the Brown Derby and we enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey, but at least the food was good!

Oh, I should add that we have never done the Fantasmic package. We were asked if we wanted the Fantasmic package at H&V because it was the same price; however, if we would have booked the package we would not have been able to use our 20% DDE discount. Last year at Brown Derby we used the DDP so we didn't get the Fantasmic package, but our server was awsome and gave us the vouchers anyway!

I should also add that you might want to check around some. You'll read mixed reviews on Brown Derby and H&V, but most all of the ones I've read on H&V have been bad! (wish I would have read them BEFORE we went)... oh well.

Oh no! Well Brown Derby is alittle out of my price range for dinner and I also have a 2 yr old with us. Is there another resturant that does the Fantasmic paskage? I could always change my reservation.

We were pleasantly surprised at H&V! :thumbsup2
We also booked it for the Fantasmic package. We don't usually like buffets, but it was very good value and there was a large variety of foods. And at a much lower price (for a family) than BD.
Give it a try! Not having to push through those crowds at Fantasmic is mighty attractive!

What makes H&V so noisy?? We all looked at the menu and chose it over Mama Melrose for our Fantasmic package.

My family had 5pm ressies and needless to say the place was PACKED!!

There were allot of crying babies/children, who were undoubtedly exhausted/cranky/starving
from a full WDW day.

Parents were constantly taking kids outside, or doing everything possible to settle them down BUT I will tell you it was extremely loud and being a buffet NO ONE sits down, constant people up and down (IMHO makes for allot of noise)!

Sorry to say that we didn't like H&V either. The food wasn't warm and the meat was bland and tough. The service was fine, but the food was a real disappointment. It was busy and loud, but that didn't bother us really. Good luck with your decision.

We did the Fantasmic dinner package with H&V during last Easter/Spring Break. Didn't think it was any busier than any other place -- but it was busy everywhere! We thought the food was fine, lots to choose from, good desserts for kids, and far more reasonably priced than the others in the package. :wizard:

We ate at H & V this past Jan for the first time. We loved it. Food was hot, very tasty, and had a great variety for the whole family. We recommend the salmon. Deserts were heavenly. We love buffetts so this may have something to do with how our review is different than those above, but as everything in life, not everyone likes or dislikes the same things. I recommend you try it. :thumbsup2

We've done H&V fantasmic dinner package the last two years and are doing it again in June. We like it. Good atmosphere and theres somethin for everyone. Hope you enjoy it! :thumbsup2

My girls love H&V. We have been quite a few times and have had great service. It can be noisy but not much more then any other buffet.

My girls love to be able to go up to the buffett line and dessert bar all by themselves. They always have plenty of choices for both picky eaters and more adventurous eaters.

We went there last year on the fantasmic package. It's a buffet so the menu changes. Some nights are more deluxe than others. When we went the food was solid but nothing spectacular. The Variety was good and everything was to temperature. The Salad Bar was adequate with some variety, but don't expect a mega-type salad bar. We had Spinach Salad as the alternate to the Green Salad. They also had Tuna, chicken, and seafood. The carved meats were flank steak, which was some of the best I've had. But in the end I was disappointed a bit that we didn't get something a little more special. It was really good though. The other carved meat was turkey that night. I didn't have any b/c the flank steak was so good. They had chicken, fish, and the deserts were plentiful.

Again, Solid food, but nothing really spectacular. I would go back there again. I might shift back there if the Mama Melrose reviews do not pick up.

We were there in March and just found it to be "ok". It was about the 3rd buffet we had eaten that week and just nothing stood out. It was really just an average to below-average meal. I don't recall anything being completely horrible, but I would have been annoyed if were weren't on the dining plan. We did just walk right into Fantasmic though. Next time, we'll try MM!

We went in Nov and loved it. We had 2 DD's with us (3m old and 2 yrs old) and there were 4 "adults." (I'm being generous to DH) We also did the fantasmic package. DD#1 was scared of fireworks and clapping, though, so we didn't stay past the "audience wave" part of the show, though. (She is NOT MY daughter in that aspect!!)

Everyone loved what they ate. Actually, my dad, who swears he WILL NEVER AGAIN GO TO DISNEY, loved the buffet. He's a cheapskate and this was his first (maybe only) trip.

The only other time DH and I had been to Disney was on our honeymoon in 2003. We did the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package then and loved our food.

Anyway, just go based on what YOU want to do. Everyone here will hate and love your choices.
Have fun!!!!!

Part of the reason for the noise is the amount of metal furniture in the place, and lots of kids. We ate there when it was character dining with minnie a couple of years ago and it was quite good but not as good as Chef Mickeys. They had good desserts. I dont think its is worth the price without characters and MGM does need a character dining experience badly.

Thanks for the info everybody. I think I am going to stick with it and give it a try. I mean it has to be better then those chain kind.

That's the kind of resteraunt we're used to! :lmao: We have ressies at H&V for the package and we've never been there...

We also have ressies at Brown Derby for our anniversary without the package...

My kids loved it. We went last September and we are going again this September ..it was the only restaurant that my kids (ages 7 & 8) requested to go back to this year.
They had a ball making the sundaes. :earsboy: :earsgirl: Have Fun.

I loved H&V!!! I don't eat much meat and had quite a few options. DD found all kinds of things to try and she loved the dessert area! We are doing it again this year!
