We've always been to H&V for lunch but never for dinner. I know there are no characters which is perfectly fine but I was wondering if someone could describe a recent dinner experience.

Can't help with your question, but I have one for you. Sounds like you like the food there, at least for lunch. Trying to book the Fantasmic dinner package and that is one of the choices. I have read so many reviews on Disboards that say this place is horrible. Was hoping you could share your positive experiences, so I won't be so apprehensive if that is where we get a ressie (if we do).

We just had a Famtasmic dinner pkg here on 1/10. We were pleasantly surprised with the food this time. The choices were varied and all the food we had (there was 9 of us) was very good. They also got us a huge plate of fries (not offered on kids food buffet) which made the kids happy. The Choc. moose and apple crisp was really good! Still an overpriced meal in my opinion but not much you can do about that!

We went last September, and we'll NEVER eat there again. I read all the bad reviews before we went, but I thought how bad could a buffet be...this is probably the only time that I've ever wished I wouldv'e listened as oppose to experiencing it for myself. None of us really ate anything, and needed to eat after we left.

I think part of it was that the food just wasn't really to my family's taste. We're pretty plain/regular food type ppl. and there just wasn't much to choose from. One of the only things my kids wouldv'e eaten wouldv'e been the chicken nuggets, except they were cold, not just not warm, but actually cold.

If you've already eaten there before for lunch, then maybe the dinner isn't much different, but it was not for us at all.

We were there in December 2009 for dinner. I went because I wanted to find out for myself about H&V. It was okay. Nothing was wrong but at the same time nothing was great.

Our service was good, the food was okay, the atmosphere was far from anything special yet we all found something we really liked - I liked the garlic parmesan mashed potatoes, DP liked the Broccoli slaw with soy nuts, my kids liked the pork (very plain) and mussels.

There is a restaurant review on my blog with pictures (link in my signature). When on the blog click on restaurant reviews on the right side of the page and scroll down until you reach Hollywood & Vine - Dinner December 2009.

Hope this helps some. :)

I just booked the Fantasmic dinner package there for May, the problem for me is that I can't get any other time slot except 4 pm which is very early for dinner...plus have been reading these bad reviews, not sure if I want to keep it or not, the only good thing is that we would get the 'vip' pass for the show later the night instead of lining up for 2 hrs I heard sometimes...

I just booked this for April 3rd this evening for the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. I was given the time of 455pm, which is not too bad. I too am not sure if we will keep the ressie but the other option was the Brown Derby that was $27 more per adult. YIKES!

I have 2 little kids so the thought of not having to go super early to get a seat for Fantasmic appeals to me but I also don't want to have a horrible dinner either. Oh the decisions!

I've eaten dinner at H&V many times, and I don't think it's AS bad as some people say. It is probably not the best buffet ever, but I do enjoy the foods on offer and the service has always been great.

we ate at H&V for the F! dinner package in december and really enjoyed it. thought it was one of the better buffets we ate at and we ate at a lot that week.

Thanks for the feedback. I am feeling a bit better about the food there. I love the idea of getting the special seating as it will sve me time with my 2 little ones which might be worth it.

The more I think about it the more I think that I will keep the reservations. I don't want to pay the price of the Brown Derby and Mama Melrose was not available.

Thanks again for this post and everyone's feedback.

We have not eaten there In a few years, and the last time we did t:goodvibeshe Fantasmic package. We thought the food was ok,now not blow me out of the water great but I can honestly say maybe I have had a handful of meals In my life that where like that!!:rotfl2:.But i thought It was not bad. So saying all that, has the food changed In the last few years? and with the fantasmic show do they still seat you in the corner?,or can you move torads the center?and are you able to get In before the rest of the crowds.

keep calling back - we made ADR for Fantasmic and were told H&V was all that was open at first (AAA agent called). We had eaten lunch there last year and werent thrilled about going back but wanted Fantasmic - AAA agent suggested we call daily because of cancellations and within a week something opened at Momma Melrose.
