Hollywood & Vine character breakfast for adults?

I really love to have an early character breakfast in the parks before they open. One of my favorite things to do. I have not been able to find one for MK or AK, the 2 breakfasts we love, or 1900 Park Fare & Ohana, even a late one.

I have been able to find many for Hollywood & Vine. It is just me and my husband, and we love breakfast, it is by far my favorite meal of the day, but I refuse to give up early park time for a sit down breakfast from 9 - 10. And we LOVE breakfast buffets.

We like to do character meals and have no problem meeting characters as just adults, we are doing a Crystal Palace dinner, but I'm not sure about the Playhouse Disney characters. My kids are older, and I have no idea who these guys are, other than seeing them on commercials on the Disney Channel.

Is the restaurant truely going to be all toddlers and us the only adults? It just seems like it might be a different experience than other character meals. Maybe I'm being silly. If that is the only breakfast bufffet we can get, what do you all think? :confused3

Thanks so much!!

Has no one eaten there??? Maybe that's why I see so many openings. :rotfl2:

I went once as a walk-up for lunch with my son...I didn't know the characters either....as a matter of fact, I called "Junie", "Dora the Explorer", my son thought that was hilarious. :rolleyes1 (well, the DO look alike, I never watched the show either!!) I didn't think it was as much fun as Crystal Palace, at least I recognize Pooh and Tigger!! :rotfl::rotfl: H & V has gotten a lot of mixed reviews regarding their buffet, I know when we had lunch, it left much to be desired. I don't know if I'd want to waste my money on something that's gotten such iffy reviews, unless you are in it for the photo-ops or autographs.

P.S. Howdy neighbor!!

That's awesome. We both picked the same description. Well, it is a nice place to live. Not very colorful this year, but still awesome. I'm in Arvada, whereabouts are you?

Oh, and thanks for the answer. I'm just torn. I can't imagine not doing one breakfast buffet. We are pretty easily pleased with breakfast. Harder to screw up than other meals.

I did it twice, once by myself and once with DH and we both enjoyed the meal and the characters. When Leo (I think) was there, he liked people who wore glasses like he did.

We went there for lunch last year but had two little ones. We enjoyed it. I think it may be too much for two adults even if you do like character meals. Playhouse Disney is more like a preschool party. They play music from playhouse Disney shows and sing along and dance along. They invite the kids to get up and do the same. It is cute. If you think you would enjoy watching a preschool party go for it. Yes, you probably will be the only adults not attached to little kids. Otherwise you may want to keep trying for somewhere else.

We previously avoided H&V for many reasons: 1) poor reviews and we're relatively particular about food; 2) we usually grab a quick breakfast in the lounge when staying CL or at resort CS when staying non-CL; 3) our boys are age 5, 12 and 13, so the older boys weren't interested in the characters at H&V; and 4) we don't like to use park time for breakfast.

Having said all that, I did a short WDW trip with our youngest in April and decided it was a perfect time to try H&V. He loves a full breakfast, we weren't staying CL but I wanted something convenient, it worked into our park plans and he loves Disney Junior characters. It was fun and he had a great time. The breakfast was fine. The service was great and the atmosphere was lively without being chaotic. All good.

We're actually going back to H&V in October with our whole family. It works for that trip because we're not staying CL, food is fine and we have an 8am ADR on a day that DHS opens at 9am. Granted, we have a Disney Junior loving 5-year-old with us, but everyone is up for it, including the older boys. We've been to many other character breakfasts over many years - Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Ohana, Tusker House, Cape May, CRT - and I wouldn't rank H&V at the top. I think the food is better at Tusker, Cape May and Ohana.

But if it fits into the plans and you can get in before the park opens, I'd say give it a try and enjoy breakfast!

I will also add that, in the two times that I've been (once at 8 AM and once at 9:30 AM), the place was not packed at all and was really pretty quiet.

We love their breakfast and we'd go back even without our kiddos :) Our children are older now, and they don't watch those shows....but we still go for breakfast. I've heard their lunch and dinner are not that great but we've not had a better breakfast buffet in Disney.

Thanks everyone. I guess we should just do it and not worry if we are the only adults there without kids attached. I mean it is Disney. I will keep looking for Tusker on our AK day, but I think I will grab that 8:05 H&V so we can be assured of one breakfast buffet. I do like me a plate of bacon :cool1:

I guess my only concern now that I read other threads, is now that they don't do a rope drop and let everyone in early, I don't want to miss being one of the first ones at TSMM. We can eat pretty fast, and since we don't have to take time out for character interaction, I'm hoping we can be done by 8:45 and on our way to TSMM.

When I was at H&V with our youngest in April, I think we were finished with breakfast in less than 45 minutes. And he met each character twice, did a full round of dancing/singing with the CM and Jake, so it could be very quick with an older group! We're in the same situation with our October ADR, and I think the timing will be fine as long as we arrive early. I plan to arrive at the gates no later than 7:45am so we're seated at H&V right away. :) We may not be the first on TSMM, but I think we'll be OK.

How about the Wave at the Contemporary. They have a buffet breakfast and then you can walk to MK. No characters, but tehy price seems good.

Me and my mom went to breakfast once there because we were planning on being at DHS and my mom loves breakfast food. we didnt know who any of the characters are since im in college and the last playhouse disney show i watched was bear in the big blue house. we had a great time and the characters were fun we would definitely go back again:banana:

ugg double posting again!

We don't have kids and we do H&V every trip. I really like their breakfast, and we just let the characters know that we don't have kids, don't know who they are, and not really interested in pics. That's fine with them, they just go to the next table.
