We have an 8:10 AM breakfast reservation at Hollywood and Vine. My kids would love to see the Disney Junior characters, but my husband and I are not big breakfast people. Can we just have coffee and the kids eat? Is that allowed?

You can just have coffee, but you'll be paying full price for it. ;)

At character meals, everyone pays. The character interaction (or potential to have character interaction) is part of the price.

Most of the characters at the Disney jr breakfast are in the parks to do regular meet and greets, with the exception Handy Manny. The lines are almost always short too. If you aren't big eaters I'd skip the breakfast and just meet Doc, Jake, and Sofia in the park. Plus Hollywood & Vine is pretty universally known for not having the best food. We did it a few years back before the characters were in the park and its the one place we'd never return to

Personally I was in LOVE with the sausage gravy at H&V and could have probably drank a chafing dish's worth of it...

But if you aren't into characters... then save your money and eat only QS and don't do any character meals, stand in the M&G lines instead :)

I think I quite charmed the DisJr. characters, I kept asking them questions about their shows and friends and kept them going for at least several minutes. We got lucky and there were very few people in the restaurant that day, so we got to meet everyone twice!

It's a little awkward that Mommy loves Princess Sofia, but my DD is NOT a Princess person. Hey at least one of us can break the ice with a good question, right?

"Your Majesty Princess Sofia! How are your riding lessons going? Has Cinderella taught you how to short-sheet a bed yet?"

Why not make your ADR later on & have brunch instead?

The food was great & the characters fab fun.

Hollywood & Vine is a "never again" restaurant for us. We waited 30 minutes to be seated and the food was terrible. I also saw that the DIS podcast did a survey and H&V was rated worst restaurant at WDW. Unless your kids just HAVE to meet those characters, then I'd skip it. But, if you're getting in at 8:10am on a 9am park open day and want to meet those characters, then it's a great option!

That's funny as we had a similar issue with tusker house...
The wait was well over 30 mins
The food was nice-but nowhere near 'worth' the price,
the servers were slow to take away dirty plates and dishes & we had to request refills for drinks.
