Hollywood Studio's?

I think it mostly depends on what you and those traveling with you are into. Honestly if it wasn't for Fantasmic I'd say it's a half day park. There are four rides worth doing. Tower of Terror, Rockin Rollercoaster, Toy Story Midway Mania, and The Muppets. The Great Movie Ride is terribly outdated and aside from the fantastic montage at the end. However The only show I like at HS is Fantasmic, if you are interested in seeing all of the other shows it could take two days.

I've read a lot of people saying there's not much to do now that it's under construction, so I would say probably a half day or less.

Depends on when OP is going. This year? Soon? Next year?

If it's soon, there is no construction at DHS. No difference at all until some more things close (only Backlot and Animation building so far) but its not yet by any means. Reading all kinds of exciting "coming in the future" plans online are one thing. Being there is another. As of Tuesday, there is definitely no noticeable change, and certainly no construction.

Great Movie Ride just had an update. It's looking quite good and fresh, animatronics looking great too. We rode it on Tuesday, had about a half hour wait in between FP windows (and RnRc was down for a few mins so couldn't Single Rider) so we popped in line. It was fine, enjoyable, nice break off your feet. It's a very popular attraction and lines can get very long, so if you see 20/30 min, I say its worth going for especially if you have never been to Hollywood Studios before.

While I personally think Fantasmic is the worst show, unlike PP, (so a lot is subjective), I can personally recommend Frozen Singalong as hilarious. Depending on when you come, there may be Frozen or Star Wars fireworks, both of which are great (and way better than Fantasmic), and a lot of new visitors have never seen Indiana Jones Stunt Show (pretty neat, don't be late to the opening as its the best part of the show). Lights Motor Action, kind of cool too, although if you see storm clouds accumulating quickly, skip it, they cancel for bad weather. Also, if Voyage of the Little Mermaid is still there, its totally worth doing. And so is Beauty and the Beast stage show. Muppets is alright.

A lot of DHS is going to consist of the live stage shows which are very entertaining if you haven't seen them in a while or are new (or just like shows).

DHS also has what I refer to as the Big Four. As mentioned above, if you like thrills, Rockin Roller Coaster is great, lines are long, but you can Single Rider if you want in most instances. If you see this line at under 30/40 min, that's a pretty low line, as its normally 60-90 or more. You will want to try and get Toy Story Mania for sure and it can usually have the longest line in the park. Fast Pass this in advance if you can, book it as early as possible. If not, you can ride it first thing at park opening (probably 40-60 min wait) or right before it closes or during Fantasmic. Tower of Terror is a light thrills super fun and lines range from 15-80, big range. If it's at a high wait time, wait until later, the line will definitely die down. You can easily Fast Pass it too. Star Tours is our other Big 4, although more insignificant than the others. It's very fun though, and if you see a high wait time, just keep an eye on it as well, as it can easily die down or you can get a FP for it. We almost always book Toy Story, Tower, Star Tours for ours FPs, unless Toy Story isn't available, then we choose RnRc instead.

If One Man's Dream is still open, go thru it as well.

Basically, you better get there quick the way the are talking lol. No real sure bet on what's staying around for how long, but if you go the way it is now, you will have plenty to do in a day , and if you are only hitting ride Highlights, than about half a day (with FPs).

To the OP, you really have to look at the list of attractions and decide what you are interested in seeing and doing. There are the rides (TSMM, RNRC, TOT, Star Tours, and Great Movie Ride), and shows (Indy, LMA, Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Muppet Vision, Jedi Training Academy, Disney Junior, Frozen singalong, Fantasmic), plus character greetings, and sidewalk entertainment and seasonal things like the Osborne Lights, Star Wars weekends, and Frozen fireworks.

A lot of the people who have brushed off DHS as a half day park have visited DHS before (often several times) and have trimmed down the things they want to do to 4 or 5 rides. If you have never been to DHS before, and want to experience most of the rides and shows for the first time, you will have a hard time doing it all in a day. Despite a lot of the comments you will see on the Dis, there aren't that many things that have closed, and those are generally minor attractions that frequent visitors didn't do anyway.

I think too many posters here forget that the perspective of a first time or infrequent visitor is a lot different than someone who has visited many times. For example, the Great Movie Ride may seem outdated to someone who has seen it several times. But, I would call it a "must do" for someone who has never been to DHS before.

Typically on our trips, HS is 2 half days. But we've been many times, seen all the shows, so our focus is on rides and maybe a show or two if we are in the mood and schedule fits.

It takes me a full day to see everything. But I watch the shows and ride everything except tower of terror.

If you see all shows, ride all rides, eat two meals, see parades and Fantasmic then plan a whole day. Folks here, me included, tend to only add what we ride or see to our half day estimates. If you've never been then plan a whole day and enjoy everything plus the shops. It's an all Park if you do everything.

It depends on how many attractions appeal to you, I still don't say more than 1 day now though probably. Closures without replacements in the past year are: Backlot Tour (which WAS popular, always was a long line when we went), Captain Jack Sparrow (moderately popular), Animation Building housing the general Animation show and the Animation Academy (between all that WAS quite popular), and still no replacement on Sounds Dangerous even though it closed a few years ago. American Idol was replaced by Frozen so not counting that.

1.5 to 2 days. But, last time we went, some of the stuff that is now closed was still open. A lot depends on if you are there on a recommended day and if you have character meets in your plans. HS has historically had a lot of unique characters that could not been seen in other parks. Our kids have always been interested in characters and those can be very time-consuning.

The other thing is that, with FP+ windows for big attractions requiring that you avoid doing anything time-consuming in a particular time-slot, it can be very difficult to fit all of the shows in the schedule on a single day. FP+ times, show-times, ADR times, character meet & greet times, etc. make it a very difficult park to be flexible with.

For us, it has always been a half day park, but last year we spent nearly a full day there because of all the Frozen stuff (the Jake in my avatar is actually a princess in disguise). The kids went nuts for the indoor snow play area, despite living in the Midwest and seeing tons of actual snow every year. I have two half days planned for our next trip. We have the Ice Palace boutique booked and my son wants to do JTA, so I think we will spend more time there. We may also see some shows depending on time.
