Going tomorrow, Dec 22, and was wondering what people's rope drop experiences were this week/what to expect.

When we went to AK on Tuesday the masses were not only in the park by 8:30 for a 9am open but had also all been far into Pandora. We admittedly were running behind that day so enjoyed the lack of crowds first thing while everyone was in Pandora and used our Navi fastpass after lunch when being in Pandora was bearable.

Due to that experience, trying to anticipate what time they will really let people into HS. We usually arrive by 8:15 for 9am park opening. But some people in our group may want to do Jedi sign ups so would like to be in the front of that crowd if that's the case.

We were there last Saturday 12/16. We left BC at 7:45AM and walked to DHS, arriving around 8:10AM or a little earlier (9AM park opening). We were the second family in line at one of the tapstyles. The lines built very, very quickly after that. At about 8:30, they let us tap in and slowly walk up the street. We were then held there until about 8:50 and they "dropped the rope", not literally. They asked those going to TSM to walk behind the TSM CMs. Those going to RR/ToT to walk behind those CMs. No one was allowed to run around the shrubs or anything, as they had CMs there to stop them. We were going to TSM, so we walked right behind the row of 5 CMs, and they even walked us into the ride line, almost to where you get the glasses. It was very calm and a big improvement to me over our prior trips. I took a photo of us on the ride at 8:57AM, and we were the 5th family on TSM. We were able to ride, run around and ride again, with only a 10-15 minute wait for the second ride; I took our photo on the ride for the second ride at 9:27AM.

My DD and DH went to RR/ToT first at RD. They did not have the same calm walk behind the CMs as we did but did say that folks who tried to go over shrubs were stopped. They rode RR first with no wait (ride photo timed 9:06AM) but the SB line was very long when they got off, so they did not try a second ride SB. So they went to ToT and rode that SB (ride photo timed 9:26AM).

For those going to Jedi Training, they let that group go to the right after we went through the tapstyles and they must have been held in that side of the park until 8:50AM, but I'm not sure about that because we didn't go that way. For your day, I would plan to be there an hour before park opening if you can, since it will be busy. Have fun!!

My "half" of the group will be heading to RR and then a TOT fastpass, while the other half will go to Jedi Training sign ups and/or TSMM at rope drop. We've done RR at rope drop, so not scared. ;) Actually, we saw the hordes going into Pandora at rope drop this week and decided to just sit back and watch, so not sure anything would faze us at this point!

Do you happen to know if the RnR single rider line was open when they got off their ride? My DH and DS are wanting to ride at rope drop and then maybe go a 2nd time in the single rider line. Thanks!

My DD is not sure but she thinks it was open, and they were filling empty spots with it. But she’s not 100% so hopefully someone else can confirm.
